Topaz Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Day, hinted about a two-tiered federal pension plan for new hires, he won't do anything to present workers. Gee,they aren't going to hurt themselves!!! BTW, does anyone know if the politicans pay anything to their pensions? Anyway, this idea is going to cause a strike in June for the Tories if Day goes through with this. Those pensions maybe helping people stay away from welfare which is good for us taxpayers. Perhaps, if they reduce their pensions then they wouldn't have to create a two tiered pension plan. No way is this going to fly and I hope Day realizes this strike could be going on when the G8 and G20 is going on and the government will need the civil servants. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/day-hints-at-two-tiered-federal-pensions/article1508723/ Quote

But where else in Canada can you recieve a gold plated pension after only 6 years? the reform Party did try their best to fight the Gold plated pension. Quote

We're talking about new hires here. They can take the job or not it's up to them. The pension plan is already grossly unfair compared to the private sector so I say go ahead with it. Let them strike. I'll survive. Quote "A man is no more entitled to an opinion for which he cannot account than he is for a pint of beer for which he cannot pay" - Anonymous

It became obvious that if they did not join in they would go without/ If memorey serves me correctly .Preton Manning and Werner Schmidt left politics without pensions. Those that were going on to longer careers had to capitulate or watch those who advocated for the Gold prosper and they go without altogether.
