Topaz Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 ACTO Structure and Logistics out of Calgary, is getting the job of rebuilding the temporary building in Haiti for the capital there. The problem is that he government never went through tender process as its is required for government contracts over $25,000.00. Of course , the Tories are good at coming up with reasons they do it their way but why can't they just follow the rules and quit playing their games? BTW, there are Conservative naturally connected to the company getting the job. Question Period today should be noisy again and can't wait to hear what he reasons are. http://www.cbc.ca/money/story/2010/03/22/haiti-atco-subsidiary.html Quote
Shakeyhands Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 the onus is on the responding companies to meet any deadlines set by an RFP process. There's absolutely no reason this couldn't go to tender. Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche
Shakeyhands Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 I thought the booster club would be all over this defending it... I guess there is no defense for the indefensible. Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche

Naaaa....far more entertaining to watch some think they are scoring politcal points on the backs of haitians. Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Shakeyhands Posted March 23, 2010 Report Posted March 23, 2010 Naaaa....far more entertaining to watch some think they are scoring politcal points on the backs of haitians. puhlease.... if this was the Liberals doing this you all would be screaming. At least behonest. Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche

If the Liberals were doing this, not only would the company be from quebec, it would be built in quebec and then shipped by quebec based shippers.... So awarding non-tendered contracts to Tory friendly firms is that much better because it doesn't involve Quebec? Wasn't a government in recent memory defeated because they sent out contracts to friendly ad companies? Quote
M.Dancer Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 Wasn't a government in recent memory defeated because they sent out contracts to friendly ad companies? No. They were defeated because of the kickbacks and general criminality of a handful of operatives enriching themselves with 100s of thousands of ill gained dollars. Shakeyhands Posted March 24, 2010 Report Posted March 24, 2010 I know this may seem like a stretch to the booster club, but if the process been put out to tender, we may have saved a significant amount of money....no matter eh... I agree really. The only reason that a tender should not be used is when it comes with inordinate delays. Now if you put a deadline on the process, then you get the same amount of whining but about the process being to short, favouring one group or another...
