Kliege Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 All of a sudden there is 11 billion dollars for health care that they didn't have a year and a half ago. Remember the Romanow report? What ever happen to Pharmicare? Will Canada be fooled again? Quote
August1991 Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 I thought the thread was about how low the the Liberal popular support will be on 28 June? How long to "meltdown, tipping point, change managers, bring back Kinsella" territory? Quote
Argus Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 All of a sudden there is 11 billion dollars for health care that they didn't have a year and a half ago. Remember the Romanow report? What ever happen to Pharmicare? Will Canada be fooled again? Martin has had the money to do a lot with health care for years now. He held off, I believe, because he wouldn't get the credit as finance minister, and because he wanted to use it at election time. So suddenly he's spewing out promises of billions and billions to "save" health care. These billions are basically the billions he himself cut from health care in earlier years and never replaced. Instead he socked away billions of dollars in his "trusts" to hide them from the taxpayer and keep the surplus looking smaller than it actually was. I see he's back to calling the Tories 'extremists again. After his own party was braying about his "$100 billion" tax cut a couple of years ago now the Tories are going to destroy Canada with a tax cut which, even if you believe the Liberals, is half that. Huh? Uncanadian? What BS is this? Martin and his party are in the gutter, no question. carrie04 Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 I am only 17 years old from Prince Edward Island Canada but ever since the whole scandal Ive payed mroe attention to the politics. As my parents are both strong liberal voters I have started to question is this who I really want to be handling my generation with the controversy that is going on now. After watching the news lastnight Martin said that he had now billions of dollars of money for health care and only a few months ago there was nothing to give??? Whether he came up with billions of dollars in just a few months or maybe this is just another scandal??? Im unsure but Ive certainly changed my mind on the paul martin ways of governing. Quote
maplesyrup Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 carrie04......I am always happy to see young people, such as yourself, get involved in the democratic process. Perhaps voting should be like the Senate, after 75 years of age, you have to retire and are no longer allowed to vote. Just kidding. I have a question for you. How do we get more young people such as yourself, involved in the political process? The House of Commons looks like a white male senior citizen's residence. The Atlantic Region is the one area of the country that is still clinging to the old Liberal myths. I hope they are paying attention to the changing tide in the rest of the country. Canadians are looking for a level playing field, some fairness in our tax system, and equality opportunity for all. August1991 Posted May 26, 2004 Report Posted May 26, 2004 Kidding aside, Maple, I wonder why the voting age isn't dropped to 16 or even 14. Quote
