Korea, is investing in Ontario Green Tech. and this is suppose to add thousand of jobs to the maufacture sector, do you think it really will?Surely you jest. Here is a report on Germany's experience Second, numerous empirical studies have consistently shown the net employmentbalance to be zero or even negative in the long run, a consequence of the high opportunity cost of supporting renewable energy technologies. Indeed, it is most likely that whatever jobs are created by renewable energy promotion would vanish as soon as government support is terminated, leaving only Germanys export sector to benefit from the possible continuation of renewables support in other countries such as the US. Third, rather than promoting energy security, the need for backup power from fossil fuels means that renewables increase Germanys dependence on gas imports, most of which come from Russia. And finally, the system of feed-in tariffs stifles competition among renewable energy producers and creates perverse incentives to lock into existing technologies. Riverwind Posted January 22, 2010 Report Posted January 22, 2010 Yes but at what cost? From the report I linked above: Germany’s subsidization regime has reached a level that by far exceeds average wages, with per-worker subsidies as high as 175,000 €(US $ 240,000) Quote To fly a plane, you need both a left wing and a right wing.

It is a good move for Korea, imo. Supporting regionally marketed industries will help the environment and local economy in other ways also. Quote I was here.
Shwa Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 And I am hearing through the grapevine that 'green technology' training is one of the more popular choices for participants in the Second Career program in Ontario. Hmmmm. Coincidence? Quote
Oleg Bach Posted January 25, 2010 Report Posted January 25, 2010 There is no such thing as true recyling. Nor is there anything that is truely green other than a blade of healthy grass..so as we put billions into so-called green investements and we generate millions of batteries to power green machines - who is going to dispose of all these poisonous batteries after they wear out? And they do wear out. I guess maybe we will just paint the units green and dump them in a meadow somewhere. Quote
