g_bambino Posted August 29, 2009 Report Posted August 29, 2009 Not that long ago, consumers seemed surprised – and dismayed – to see Christmas decor in the stores before Halloween. This year, the season seems to have started well before Labour Day. Toronto Star... That's all I got. I'm flabbergasted. Quote
Argus Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 I think I'll do more shopping at Sears this year. Quote "A liberal is someone who claims to be open to all points of view — and then is surprised and offended to find there are other points of view.” William F Buckley
jdobbin Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 I think I'll do more shopping at Sears this year. In the U.S., both Sears Holdings Corp., which owns Sears and Kmart, and Toys R Us held Christmas sales in July, inviting beleaguered American consumers to feel the holiday spirit and "beat the holiday rush." Toys R Us proclaimed that "everyone needs a little Christmas, right this very minute." Um. To beat the holiday rush? Quote
GostHacked Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 Horrible trend. I don't know how else to put it. Quote
kimmy Posted August 30, 2009 Report Posted August 30, 2009 I don't know a single person who wasn't annoyed and even offended that stores brought out Christmas so early last year. It's insulting to Christians and non-Christians alike. It's insulting to peoples' intelligence. I believe there's a huge public backlash building at these cynical retailers. I bet people are already imposing their own personal boycotts, and I think it would be very easy to organize a real boycott of retail chains that trot out their Christmas music and Christmas decorations early. You money grubbing bastards are making baby Jesus cry. Put that shit back in the shed until after Halloween. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Argus Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 Um. To beat the holiday rush? No, because in the article Sears Canada says they don't put their stuff out until October. jdobbin Posted August 31, 2009 Report Posted August 31, 2009 No, because in the article Sears Canada says they don't put their stuff out until October. I was referring to Sears in general and their avoiding the Christmas rush reasoning. Quote
