Iggy needs a makeover

It’s official. The Liberal party strategy is a dud. A new Ipsos Reid poll — Conservatives 39, Liberals 28 — is the latest signal. While no one should read too much into one opinion sampling, the downward trend has been apparent for months.

Michael Ignatieff’s Liberals are backpedalling toward the lows of Stéphane Dion — and they shouldn’t be surprised.

What else can be expected when you put out no new policies, no new vision, a leader who appears indecisive, and no sustained attack strategy on Stephen Harper?

The operation needs an overhaul and it needs it now. Iggy has been too beholden to a handful of advisers who brought him into politics. That’s what happened to Paul Martin. The former prime minister placed too much power in the hands of a few close political friends.

Metro News

Lawrence Martin writing for Metro? MSM? Maybe he's got to go for headlines. Dunno. Then again, maybe Martin's fed up and free to tell the truth. IMV, Martin has a point.

Then again, I happen to think that no makeover of Ignatieff will solve the problem because, IMHO, Ignatieff is no Trudeau. He's certainly no Chretien. And heck, he's not even a Dion.

Michael Ignatieff is a Jerry Brown. He's a flake. (BTW, Ronald Reagan also called Libya's Muammar Ghaddafi a flake.)

No makeover will solve Ignatieff's problem - it will compound it.

Nevertheless, I admire the term "makeover" - not only because the Metro editor captured well Martin's point. The term also implies that the federal Liberals simply need a "makeover" and then they'll be back in power.

Machiavelli? Let's call that the Pamela Anderson advice to the Prince.

Since this is all predicted on the Ipsos poll, it seems you are a day late to the party.

What?!

Ignatieff was supposed to wipe the floor with PM Harper remember all the liberals here saying that every other post?

Funny how they're not saying it anymore...we tried to tell you but you just wouldn't listen. PM Harper will never be defeated in an election, he will retire as PM.

Who said that?

I have said the Tories would win the next election and have the edge for the next election. However, if you think it is a sure thing, the polls certainly don't agree with you.
