The rule is, if you an illegal then you have to go home but I think there should be exceptions and the 69 year old Polish woman, who is BLIND and has been here for 11 years should be one of those exceptions. I doubt she's a terrorists, she not going to harm anyone. I think when most Canadians hear about this, the Tories will pay for it at the polls. This just shows against how uncompassionate this government can be.

Another story for the hand-wringers to jump on. You can always feel empathy for someone with a handicap.....but why didn't she return home after her visit 11 years ago? A visit is a visit - in and out. There are too many people who try to circumvent the system while honest people have to wait in line. It seems that the family has twice tried to thwart the system - once in overstaying the visitor's visa and now making a bogus refugee claim. These people are not stupid - they've willfully abused the system. I'm sorry she's blind but do we allow all the "handicapped" cheaters to stay? - the man with one leg, the woman with cancer.....is that all it takes for a cheater to stay - a heart-wrenching story. I'm sick of cheaters. We only allow a finite number of people to come to Canada each year......I want every one to be someone who followed the rules because for every cheater, an honest person can't get in.

Start making exceptions for illegals with a "disability" and you can't begin to imagine how such rules would be abused. e.g. the courts have ruled that alcohol/drug addiction is a disability.

Yea just like how the people care about the homeless in Toronto or Vancouver. Why is it no one cares because to help, people know it would cost them tax dollars. If she is polish, send her back to poland. Poland is an emerging modern Country. Showing up at a Countries door step looking to be looked after by Canada is really cause for her to be dropped off at the Polish embassy or escorted back to poland.

Canada already is going to be paying for countless dead beat boomers with Canada pension payments they don't deserve for their slack attitude to the cultural unraveling and uncontrolled price gouging by the retail greedy. Because they are the ones who voted for the conservatives and liberals that have led to the shit country canada is today they deserve nothing.

You want her to stay than you should put your assets and money where your mouth is and have her live with you. I know the boomer mindset, not likely. They are the me generation, and to eff with everything and everyone else.

Boomers think they are so clever with using immigrants and easy mortgage money to inflate Real Estate Prices. In their Greed and selfishness they turned Canada into a vehicle of exploitation and a reverse colony where Canada is not the country is was or could have been.

Now that reality of what they have done is here, we have corrupt conservative governance sitting on high taxes and people lucky to get better than minimum wage because of their flooding of Canada with economic immigrants from china, India, the middle east, and so on. Countries of people who are more than happy to make minimum wage and greedy employers all to happy to use these immigrants to keep their labor costs down.

She broke the law. She knew what she did was wrong but she did it anyways. Having pity is irrelevant and frankly is a liberal trait. Liberals are always concerned about feelings ignoring the facts. Ship her out asap.
