I have you beat, a rotary black phone .....on a party line and cheaper than $21 bucks a month. Its the cottage phone and Bell has been trying for years to get us to drop it for something better (read more $$$)

Drawbacks are , no fax no other attachments at all, and LD you have to state the number you are calling from.

But damn, if the thing never stops working, including a power outtage.

Our rings Used to be 2 longs and one short ....some of you young'ins might have to google that one.

:) I had forgotten about this, but it's all coming back to me.

...but do you recall listening in on the neighbours ?

:)

No, I grew up with a private line. But my first girlfriend's family, who lived in rural NB, had a party line with the specific rings, and they would complain that the neighbour was tying up the phone, etc....

And yes, to my knowledge, everyone sometimes listened in on everyone.

So Telus mobility sent me a letter informing me that for the privilege of receiving a bill in the mail from them they will now be charging me $2 per bill. I thought that was pretty funny, I'm sure that it costs them much less and they are herding us toward their preferred method of non hard copy billing via internet.

I feel like dropping them.

Why would you want a paper bill when you can get it online? If you want a hard copy of a particular bill you can always print it out. Electronic bills reduce paper waste, de-clog your mail box, and can be accessed online for years unlike paper bills which can be easily misplaced or discarded over that timespan. I signed up for all the e-billing options with all my services as soon as they made them available.

Some customers want paper, not everyone has the same preferences. As it is Canadians pay some of the highest cell phone rates in the world, my point is they should not be padding their bottom line even more with this little paper tax.

:) That's pretty good.

They should add an extra charge everytime you pay your bill, for administrative costs incurred.

Also, "postage due."

Assholes.
