lily Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 My son went to the Vancouver Canadians baseball game tonight with his all-star team. Hall of Famer Cecil Fielder threw the first pitch... and he signed my boy's ticket after chatting in the washroom. How cool is that? Quote I'll rise, but I won't shine.
kimmy Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 For some reason I was expecting to hear he'd suffered a heart attack. Man, that guy was like 300 pounds when he was still playing! I bet he must weigh a quarter ton now that he's retired! But yeah, cool that he chatted with your son and signed his ticket. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
lily Posted July 28, 2009 Author Report Posted July 28, 2009 haha! No, he's alive and well, and still a big guy. My boy is pretty excited. Fielder was signing autographs, but was finished when my son went out. He happened to see him walk into the washroom. He claims he wasn't really stalking him... he had to go too...... I'm a huge Detroit Tigers fan, so back when I was a kid, I was enthralled with his run at 50 homeruns back in 1990. Hopefully him and his son (who currently plays for the Brewers) will get back on better terms soon. Quote

He did not have a good game at the plate , but made a great athletic play at first base that Dad could only dream of..... Quote The government should do something.
fellowtraveller Posted September 14, 2009 Report Posted September 14, 2009 My favorite Fielder moment is when he stole his very first base late in his career. He'd been caught stealing 4 or 5 times in his career, and could be timed between the bases with a sundial. When he roared into second base safely, the announcers were laughing hard and claiming it would take half an hour for the grounds crew to fill in the trench Cecil had left. He was as excited as if he'd hit the World Series winning home run, and kept the base as a souvenir. Quote The government should do something.
