Jerry J. Fortin Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 We owe the separation of church and state to Christianity. Now does that mean we should just forget the millions that died in Christs name? How many were killed with Luther stepping away from the Catholic Church? How many died as a result of the Spanish Inquisition? How many people in North America and South America and Africa were killed because they just didn't believe? Don't be fooled by religions. Quote
benny Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I thought we owed it to the kings who wanted more power. Jesus was crucified through a collusion in between the Roman Empire and Judaism. Quote
Guest TrueMetis Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 Jesus was crucified through a collusion in between the Roman Empire and Judaism. What does a guy who didn't exsist have to do with kings trying to gain more power by seperating church from state? Quote

DogOnPorch Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 DOP, you knew that I meant the segregation happened in the clergy I think. I could assume that's what you meant. It wasn't clear. The reason I ask is that some of the 'crustier' eastern RC branches do segregate their flocks. Perhaps you knew something about the RCC I didn't. But you're both right, we can't ignore the problems that exist and we have to work to eliminate them. I don't really think 'we' have to do anything to eliminate anything. That would be the Muslim's job, wouldn't it? They'd just riot in the streets if we tried to do jack-squat. T'is the nature of the beast. I'm not defending what anyone did, but I don't like the attitude that some have in relation to cultures that they often don't understand at all....and that's not to say that those cultures are right. Well...ok...fair 'nuff. What am I not getting about Islam? Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.

jbg Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 http://www.montrealgazette.com/Charges+all...6807/story.html Family charged in possible honour killings of Montreal women in KingstonBy Paul Cherry, The GazetteJuly 24, 2009 KINGSTON – A St. Léonard couple allegedly began making plans to kill their three daughters, along with the husband’s first wife, weeks before the bodies of all four victims were found in a car submerged in the Rideau Canal. Mohammad Shafia, 56, his wife Tooba Mohammad Yahya, 39, and their eldest son, Hamed Shafia, 18, all face first-degree murder charges in the deaths, which came to light last month after a Nissan Sentra was discovered in the canal near the Kingston Mills Locks. Conspiracy charges filed at the Kingston courthouse Thursday reveal investigators believe plans to commit the killings were hatched as far back as May 1, long before the family travelled to Niagara Falls. The deaths occurred during the return trip to Montreal. ****************** Utter, shocking cowardice. We need to draw the line against this conduct. DogOnPorch Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 I wish I knew....my only real point was that there's 2 sides to every story. Indeed...mine too. The way I view it, Canada will do nothing and individual Canadians will do nothing until there's no Canada left. A creeping iconclasm will erase what made us such a hot destination to begin with. Not today...not tomorrow. Sooner than we'd guess, I'll wager. But, if that's the goal of multiculturalism, who am I to stop it? We obviously thought our culture wasn't good enough on its own. Smallc Posted July 28, 2009 Report Posted July 28, 2009 The way I view it, Canada will do nothing and individual Canadians will do nothing until there's no Canada left. I don't think so, and I hope not. Canada has constantly changed throughout history. The newest generation of immigrants are just a continuation of that. Quote

You know of course, that "honour" killing occurs mostly in some Muslim societies, and not in others. Does putting the word honour in quotation marks mean you don't agree it exists? You know that, right? Virtually unknown...lol. Sort of nearly pregnant.
