Liberals release series of attack ads

One of the ads however, suggesting Harper would put military personnel in Canadian cities, was later pulled, with the Liberal Party saying the ad had been circulated in error.

The commercials are some of the most negative yet, suggesting Harper is anti-Atlantic Canada, hides an agenda similar to former Ontario premier Mike Harris and that his rise to leadership was bankrolled by rich American right-wingers.

The new ads each feature unflattering close-ups of Harper's face, are accompanied by war-like drumming.

"Who paid for Stephen Harper's rise to the head of the party?" asks the voice. "We don't know. He refuses to reveal his donors. What do you suppose he's hiding? We do know he's very popular with right wingers in the U.S. They have money, maybe they helped him. We just don't know. He just won't say."

First Nations NDP candidate demands answers over B.C. Liberal attack ad

CRANBROOK, B.C. - A B.C. NDP candidate says Liberal Leader Gordon Campbell must answer for a cabinet minister's attack ad that he says targets him for being First Nations.

The ad running this week in a Kootenay newspaper, says voters "want someone who pays taxes and is concerned about how that money is being spent."

Beneath it is a photo of Bennett with his family and a slogan that reads, "He's one of us."

Bennett said the ad was not an attack on First Nations but Sebastian said he wants the premier to provide some kind of an explanation himself.

Other First Nations leaders have asked Campbell to apologize.

Hmm, what's that saying again? Those who live in glass houses, shouldn't cast stones.

You do realize that you are talking about a news story federally in 2006 that widely hurt the Liberals.

As for the provincial Liberals, you do know that they are a separate party?

For heaven's sake people....will you please get it into your thick heads that it's OK if Liberals run attack ads! Why do so many people pick on Liberals? They have nothing but the welfare of Canadians in mind. They care....they really care.

Shady, don't for get this one -- it's one of the WORST...

Well I must say this thread shows that the Liberals aren't cramming attack ads down our throats like the Conservatives. Scraping the bottom of the barrel to pull up a John A McDonald Utuber.

Sadly attack ads do work sometimes.

The latest about the Block and pedophiles is a loser and will hurt the Conservatives.

The one about Ignateiff only visiting was a powerful one that did work for the Conservatives.

That's because they can't afford them. So until they can, the Liberals have devised tactics where attacks are hurled whenever the opportunity presents itself. Example, the internet is ripe with willing bloggers a la Warren Kinsella. Don't kid yourself. Once their kitty is healthier, brace yourself for some mean stuff.

Who knows. You may be right about that. Obviously the Conservatives have weighed the consequences and decided to place their bet on the ad working.

The truth works admirably well.

but can we at least have an article a bit more recent than January 2006?

Why?

You do realize that you are talking about a news story federally in 2006 that widely hurt the Liberals.

Yep. But I can't seem to find any of your threads denouncing them at the time. Hmmm.

Well I must say this thread shows that the Liberals aren't cramming attack ads down our throats like the Conservatives.

That's because they're bankrupt. Their fundraising is pathetic, and nobody wants to donate to them. If it wasn't for access to taxpayer dollars, they'd be non-existent.

That's because they can't afford them.

Damn, you took my answer. Or I guess, in this case, I took yours. But you're absolutely right.

You certainly haven't tried. I've mentioned it numerous times.

Wow 2006 way to keep things current. Want to bring up any old Trudeau ads while we're hitting these things at the height of their relevancy? What about some Lester B. Pearson ads? Sheesh I know the summer is lean for us political junkies but at least keep it to the last fiscal year.

it's tit for tat with these Conservatives. It doesn't matter if they have to go back years to cite one expample of how they are no different than then Liberals. It's hilarious quite frankly.
