Smallc Posted May 30, 2009 Report Posted May 30, 2009 My intent is good, so is the intent of a great many others, yet that cannot be said for all of those folks in government. Wow, no offence intended, but I don't see any of those things as enhancements. I see them as completely against what Canada is. Also, I'm sure that many people in government have good intentions. People in general really have no better or worse intentions than those in government. Quote

Topaz Posted June 9, 2009 Report Posted June 9, 2009 As I was watching the senate committee meetings, one of Harper appointed senators asked the head of the furniture maufacturers, if he was urging "Buy Canadian" to keep jobs here. Now in the Commons, Day is telling the public that's not a good idea to suggest, Buy Canadian or Buy American only and yet we have this senator suggesting this. I did think she had no idea what is was doing in this committee and alot of her questions were just stupid! Quote

Hey when you love friends and family and the daughters of fine old buisness associates - you have to give them something to do - a good job stupid or not - this has been going on since Roman times......And - it's to late to buy Canadian - unless we actually start producing again... This senator should have been saying - "better build Canadian again so we can be self reliant - nothing worse than being reliant on nations that wish your demise - just not wise.. Quote

Doesn't that simply serve as an illustration of how, contrary to a lot of claims here, Senators are not necessarily beholden to the government of the day? Quote
