Cameron Posted May 22, 2009 Report Posted May 22, 2009 (edited) Reports last week that the recession is draining Social Security and Medicare funds were just one more reminder that the United States needs to fix its finances. For inspiration, why not look to Canada? Long derided by American conservatives as "socialist" and praised by the left for its generous government spending, Canada is casting off those stereotypes....Cool Java Graphs and Main Article Yes, Yes...look at Canada...and we still need a lot of work. Topaz Posted May 23, 2009 Report Posted May 23, 2009 On Sunday May 24th, the CBC's The passionate eye 10:00PM eastern, they are doing a story about the US's heavy debt and how will it survive or if it will ened up like Russia did, broke. On another topic, the auto industry, I have been hearing on the news both the US and the Canadians stations, that people are very angry that THEIR car dealers are closing and they are swearing, they will never buy another Chrysler, or GM car again. So when the leaders are telling people to go out and buy a new car, I only see them eithr, not buying or turning to the Japanese or korean makers!! So is future of the "BIG 3" Honda, Toyota and Hyundia??? and will Ford survive without help? Quote

Doesn't matter for Canada, which really depends on the larger American market to sustain economic production levels regardless of the manufacturer. If Americans want to buy cars, somebody will make them. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
