Leafless Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 Capitalism is thriving in Ontario, Premier Dalton McGuinty said Tuesday, a day after one of his cabinet ministers suggested the province would become an "entrepreneur" by investing heavily in certain businesses."Free markets are alive and well," McGuinty said. "It's just that they have a new partner." During a speech Monday, Economic Development Minister Michael Bryant said Ontario would begin "choosing winners and losers" in business, heralding a wave of corporate investment. "It's government as entrepreneur," Bryant told a crowd. "This is the business we're in." And Mr. Mc.Guinty responded: "I think what Mr. Bryant was trying to say is that the days of governments kind of quietly presiding over the gradual evolution of the economy are behind us," the premier told reporters. Not quite, Mr. Mc.Guinty, that is not what Mr. Bryant said. But then again the Liberal excessive desire to control, govern, particular aspects of society is not all that uncommon. Think CBC, AKA communist broadcasting channel or the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/todays-p...7030/story.html Quote
Borg Posted May 6, 2009 Report Posted May 6, 2009 My tax dollar was not given to the government willingly - but it was given and the cheque was good. Now it is being spent to buy businesses for the government - in other words we are borrowing money to support business. You do not borrow money to get out of debt. Government owned business is not capitalism - and it is highly likely we will be forced to go to the well more than once. How often will the libs buy votes in Ontario? Borg Quote
Wild Bill Posted May 7, 2009 Report Posted May 7, 2009 McGuinty is an idiot. Capitalism is DEAD I saw a news item a few weeks ago that said Hollywood is finally going to Ayn Rand's novel 'Atlas Shrugged'. They have already started casting. The feeling is that with all the business and government actions going on today to do with this recession the novel seems to fit brilliantly! The parallels are staggering. Rand looks like a prophet who's batting 1000. The movie should be SRO in Ontario! Leafless Posted May 9, 2009 Author Report Posted May 9, 2009 McGuinty is an idiot. Capitalism is DEAD Currently capitalism is becoming more and more dysfunctional but is not "dead". What we need is preservation of national interest to prevent the possible future collapse of capitalism. Quote

Like my taxes bailing out some useless Ontario automaker dropouts that make 6-figures and have juicy pensions? Quote RealRisk.ca - (Latest Post: Prosecutors have no "Skin in the Game") --
