And those that want to smear her had better watch out for the weapon of choice in this Parliament: A lawsuit.

Does this caution apply to Dhalla? I heard someone on Power Play allude that Dhalla was considering lawsuits against some of the media outlets for their reporting on the case. I expect that would include the Toronto Star that has been all over this from the beginning.

It may well be. As I said, I don't know all of the details of what some of the media have reported but as Don Martin said today, a lot of it is distasteful. Some of it may fall outside of legal parameters.

I certainly would be hesitant to say something as definitive as I have seen some do here and elsewhere.

I did hear her news conference and it seemed some of the press had her guilty before she even had a hearing. I don't think a person who is guilty would go to the lengths she is to clear her name. Now I'm sure when the parliament committee has the hearings we will see the war between the Libs and the Tories and it will probably be ugly!

Which is why things will get more bitter in the next while.

Brace yourselves! I'm about to trigger the flames!

It's not necessarily abuse of position. It may be much simpler.

It likely is cultural!

I've worked beside many people from India and surrounding countries. Getting desperate people to work for less than minimums is quite common.

The ideal in our culture is that two people negotiate a business agreement in which both profit. I'm not suggesting for a moment that one or both sides won't try to make the best agreement they can in their own favour. However, that effort is not pursued with the zealousness it is in other cultures, where the ideal is to screw the other party as badly as you possibly can. I know a guy, for example, who says that, for example, a certain ethnic group can be counted on to ALWAYS negotiate as hard edged an agreement as possible. Often they'll have the kids present as well to watch how it's done. Then, after the agreement, they'll keep trying to badger him into extras, and they'll wait until he's finished, has put his tools away, and THEN they'll find some little thing wrong, something they "didn't notice" before, and try to get him to knock off some money. Or they'll call him afterward, having 'just noticed" some minor deficiency, or so they say, and offer to forget it as long as he knocks off a certain amount. To them, this is the way it's done. Badger the other person, twist their arm, pull every possible trick to get them to lower the price for whatever reason. If they do, hey, it's their choice, and your profit, right? Anyway, that is how some of these groups think. When working for these particular groups now he insists, despite their resistance (Oh no, it looks fine! No need for that!), on them going over every inch of work he's done and then signing off on it before he puts his stuff away and leaves.

This is interesting that liberals are just unestablished conservatives climbing the social ladder under the guise of caring...ha - and how many pair of shoes does she have? This is going to be a lot of fun - out come the lawyers and the apolgy masters.

Well Ruby TRIED to wimper near the end. Don't know if you heard it.

But her lawyer was trying show 'paper' evidence. It was amature hour with Ruby and her lawyer.

I love the guy who asked 'I notice there's no Liberal Party signs'.

The reporters asked good questions: "were these people working in that house without papers" and the question was avoided. It really was amature hour. "I advised my client not to speak" like this is Islam or something. So 3rd world and enjoyable at that. You may not speak! Lol..

HELLO! She's a f'cking MP in Canada and this is a personal issue of hers of course she can speak. Oh well, the 'little woman' isn't allowed to speak.

So we have 2 nanny's and another coming fwd that are all lying I guess.

Like HELLO!!! Of COURSE they are going to sign that things are OK or they wont get paid. Kind of like your friend Mehar Arar, he had to say he wasn't being tortured remember? Then later he turned around and said he was being tortured after they let him go. Same thing.

Do you think these illegal aliens who cannot vote have partisan issues??? Lol!!!

You trust the Sikh, 3rd world ethics of Ruby Dhalla and her family? Do I need to remind you of the Slum Dog Millionair incident where she said it was good that some kid got beat up by local police who snatched her assistants purse? Then the India media made it into an issue then she changed her statements around.

She's a liar, someone who won by 700 votes, someone who was parachuted into her riding, someone who demanded that 'Dr' be put on her campaign signs when she's never even practiced as a Dr. Someone who claimed to be a Bollywood actress, yet got paid $2000 for a flop Canadian movie that our tax dollars funded.

Now we're funding her trips to Punjab and her lifestyle and quite frankly I'm tired of it.

The media wants blood, Canadians want her blood. She's the symbol of the 'ethnic racist girl' who talks out of both sides of her mouth and gets things with a silver platter at our expense. She's an 'ethnic chick hypocrite'. Why do you think the media are so on the offensive with her and her family.

Even the far-left on this very forum completely disregard her as a person and only think of her as a sex object. She has flabby arms and huge hips that she covers very well. Her face is somewhat pretty in a 'demon' or 'evil b**c' sort of way. She is also not the first Sikh woman in parliment. That is insult to the real one.. you know, the one who sits with the Conservative party.

Here is my other prediction. When she gets booted out of the party (the older 'white' men will see to it hopefully), I garutee, absolutely she'll be more famous than ever as an anchor or host on the CTV or some sort of television network in Canada.

I'd like it if she and her family would pack up and get the hell out of Canada because I do NOT promote this sort of slave, human labour treatment in Canada.

These poor phillipino women just trying to send money back home to their parents and kids while they are actually WORKING in Canada (unlike most of the modern immigrants in Canada (as stats show)).

Just reading this entire thing and my head is spinning. Wow, you are very ignorant and bordering on racism and hate. First, the lawyer did not want Ruby to speak because its going to go to court and I don't know how that is analogous to Islam. Maybe you should peak into the type of things going on in her riding. A lot of people are questioning if it actually was something the conservatives set up since the last time around the Tory establishment in her riding began to personally attack her.

Ok, I want to get this straight. You said "You trust the Sikh, 3rd world ethics of Ruby Dhalla and her family?" I'm sorry but I don't see how Sikhism is in this question. Please, you are too hateful to actually realize that Sikhism has nothing to do with this. I ain't sikh but I do know that Sikhism is one of the only, if not the only, religions to actually stand up for women's rights, right from its inception. It also rejects the caste system. Second, how is it third world. Ruby was born in Winnipeg. Even if she "used" her "third world ways," just imagine if she had used the same values people like you "real Canadians" have used. Raised with the cattle, inbred, taught the world was created 4000 years ago.

I don't know what point claiming that she wasn't the first sikh woman mp makes because she and Nina Grewal both were the first sikh women in parliament. I don't understand how that could be refuted but then again, Conservatives think they have "saved" this country since 2006 by cutting our GST by 2%. Yay, I can buy a piece of candy for $1.13 and not $1.15!

Are you calling for Ruby to leave Canada? Where should she go? She isn't a citizen of any other country than Canada. She is every much as Canadian as you or I am. You are ready to boot her after the allegations of two people a year after they left their jobs? Just imagine how'd you feel if I called for you to leave this country only after "someone" "said" that you stole a piece of candy without a trial.

You actually said this: "These poor phillipino women just trying to send money back home to their parents and kids while they are actually WORKING in Canada (unlike most of the modern immigrants in Canada (as stats show))."? I know one thing. And this is it: you aren't a conservative supporter. You are pretending to be conservative and make everyone think that conservatives are racist, etc. Well, bravo. You've done a good job. It was funny while it lasted but c'mon, you are not fooling anyone.

Some one will take the two poor slave girls aside and either threaten them or bribe them.

We will know if their testimony changes. It could be opportunism on the part of the gals too..

However, considering that the Toronto Star has been on the front line reporting on this, it cannot be a 'great right wing conspiracy' LOL
