Leafless Posted May 4, 2009 Author Report Posted May 4, 2009 Well, if you bet on that, then... you lose. I'm sure you're used to the feeling, though. The only feeling I have is observing your unusual patience hanging around the forum for hours waiting to, er, reply. Hack, hack, hack hack, excuse me. Quote
kimmy Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Yes... yes, Harper has failed us... Ignatieff's vision for Canada doesn't dispatch National unity in the name of political expediency... Ignatieff's vision embraces National unity. Wow, he even hired Will.I.Am to do a song for him. All that's missing is the posters. But in all seriousness, I'm willing to give Ignatieff a chance to show he's more than talk when it comes to national unity. So far, at least, he seems to recognize that the country doesn't stop at Sault Ste Marie.... something that was completely lost on his despicable predecessors. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
g_bambino Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Hack, hack, hack hack. The sound of English syntax being butchered. And here is the corpse: The only feeling I have is observing... [ed. to add] Edited May 4, 2009 by g_bambino Quote
Keepitsimple Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 Yes... yes, Harper has failed us... Ignatieff's vision for Canada doesn't dispatch National unity in the name of political expediency... Ignatieff's vision embraces National unity. I'll accept that Mr. Ignatieff might actually be thinking about ALL of Canada.......but Canadians are rightly concerned that ever since Pierre Trudeau, the Liberal Party has intentionally thrown Western Canada under the bus to shore up votes in Quebec and Ontario. This was not accidental - it was a strategy to obtain and hold power and has been the most divisive force in Canadian politics for almost 50 years......and it was the Big Centralized Paternalistic government vision of Jean Chetien that drove Quebec to the brink of succession. I will give Ignatieff the benefit of the doubt that he recognizes this cancerous legacy and the hubris of modern Liberal history....but to paint the Liberal Party as a unifying party at this juncture is an injustice to history and an insult to Canadians. Jerry J. Fortin Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 In the last five decades, the west has not displayed many Liberal tendencies. People like to blame Trudeau for everything but that is not the reality of things. Quote
Molly Posted May 4, 2009 Report Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) He certainly didn't plant the seed- just plain too late for that task- but he nurtured it to abundant flowering. People just leaned a little farther to the right until he arrived. The Salmon Arm salute and the NEP, 18% interest rates and 'Why should I sell your grain?" gave them concrete reason to turn and spit at the word 'Liberal'. They'll keep doing that until the generation that vividly remembers that era and his open disdain for all things West, dies.
