bjre Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 It is hard to find any news on Harper in G20, at last, I find Harper can make news by photo. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/7979292.stm Quote "The more laws, the less freedom" -- bjre "There are so many laws that nearly everybody breaks some, even when you just stay at home do nothing, the only question left is how thugs can use laws to attack you" -- bjre "If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny." -- Thomas Jefferson

bjre Posted April 2, 2009 Author Report Posted April 2, 2009 (edited) I don't see what is so embarrassing about having to hit the head... The thing is, I did not see any other report on Harper in G20. Do you know if Harper meet any leader of other countries? Do you know if Harper give any speech on the G20 stage? What did he do when he was there? Did he bring any meaningful thing back? What is it? Shakeyhands Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 I'm sure he did stuff and talked and such, then he had to poo. I think we can give a guy with a weak constitution a break... Quote "They muddy the water, to make it seem deep." - Friedrich Nietzsche

What you're more interested in is finding something with which to ridicule the Prime Minister. One thing for sure, you've got lots of company in searching gutters and cesspools for your news. It was just your luck to find something on the BBC site that suits your purpose. You didn't have to stoop too low to retrieve it. Perhaps you should stick to trashing the CAS and leave intelligent political discourse to other posters. You may not like that Harper's contribution to the G20 has been noted. Again, I can assure you that you're not alone. Prime Minister Stephen Harper won a key commitment for Canada at the G20 summit, getting world leaders to agree to extend for 12 months a pledge not to raise new trade barriers."The biggest single thing that could turn this recession into a very long, extended depression would be global protectionism," Harper said in a television interview Wednesday. "In our recent budget in Canada, we actually lowered tariffs on imported machinery and equipment. It's important that we start to see some initiatives push in the other direction, to push towards trade liberalization." http://www.montrealgazette.com/business/fp...3674/story.html Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. If Harper has meaningful contribution, no one can deny it. Topaz Posted April 2, 2009 Report Posted April 2, 2009 Harper went to the the summit looking good because of what the Libs had done with the banking years ago. It`s too bad he couldn`t at least admit that at home, then he may get a little respectability. I wonder what the bill will be for the trip? Quote

The liberals didn't do it, the Mulrooney PC's the Bank Act was written in 1991, that puts the thanks directly on the shoulders of someone I am not even too fond of Brian Mulroony. At least it can be said that it wasn't the liberal party. Quote "What about the legitimacy of the democratic process, yeah, what about it?" Alta4ever Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 (edited) So, which party was it that refused to allow the banks to merge? The power that allowed the minister to do that was afforded to them by the PC's in the bank act. Smallc Posted April 3, 2009 Report Posted April 3, 2009 The power that allowed the minister to do that was afforded to them by the PC's in the bank act. Good, and I freely admit that the PCs (who you all accuse of being Liberals in disguise) brought in the act. Both parties do good things...and bad. Quote

Both parties do good things...and bad. So the Liberal Party of Canada is unable to take credit for our banking system, and its structure.
