 that was actually quite funny.

What was funny?

then roll up our sleeves and turn them into realities." - Michael Ignatieff

The GG and Obama will be buddies much like the legendary romance of Peter McKay and what's her name the brake pad lady from Aurora - but it will end badly...as for Harper and Obama - conservatives like the idea of a well spoken front man but it must irk them that they had to put forth a coloured boy (old school for someone who is not from Africa nor reall America) ;) Biden and the Bankers will become buddies - but they always were anyway..

Whinge Buckett

whiney person. A prima donna who likes to whine and complain a lot.

Smart people, when they have nothing of value to contribute, wisely keep silent.

Then again, if you used a standard like that you'd never speak or write again.

If Obama told you to go out and kill blonde people you'd snatch your carving knife from the rack and be running out onto the street before you he finished speaking.

Not the fact that it was directed at you, just the line itself.

Those who think they are smart and think that being quiet when they are dumb maintains the reputation of smartness are just plain shifty..calulating and full of a thing called wizanry - or wisen old English for wise..or even the older form once called Wizard...which come from the root wicked. If you have to maintain silence in order to survive the fray cos' you have nothing to say - say something anyway...0kay. Keeps people comfortable....I knew a guy who kept quiet and all the girls flocked to him..then he spoke one day....and the flock flew.

Hmmm

Obama's visit was a pain in the ass. They were closing roads down over an hour before the great man whizzed down them. They even closed down roads which passed over or under ,or crossed the ones he intended - eventually - to drive down - with a 50 car entourage. While Obama was buying his cookies downtown there were cops blocking off a major on-ramp near where I work, and they'd been blocking it off for over an hour in ancitipation of him coming that way.

Good medicine....except of course for yourself?

Besides you were working hard were you not? Did it turn Ottawa's rush hour into a 20 minute deal from a 10 minute deal?

The horror.

Ottawa has a rush hour?

I always have something topical to contribute. All you ever contribute is smug.

You've never been here, have you.

Major roads were being closed down all the way south to the airport an hour before he decided to stop for cookies and visit his embassy staff downtown.

Shows how little you know about what went on.

The Ottawa visit was a show case - the real action takes place at our real capital - TORONTO. Shows how little you know what went on.

I'm tired of people claiming that Iggy was appointed to Leader of Opposition and not elected. Are you guys drunk? Anyone in opposition can become Opposition Leader. It doesn't necessarily have to be a party leader. If the Liberal caucus, in unison, wanted, they could make Ralph Goodle the Opposition Leader. Hell, if the NDP and Bloc came to some sort of agreement, they could make Gilles or Jack the opposition leader without any change to party structure. So stop your crying. Its a ceremonial title with some actual perks. Parties actually have no official role in parliament. The Governor General selects the P.M. to form a government (with anyone from any party) and she also chooses the Leader of the Opposition to form his official opposition.

Dropped from states side by parachute into a non-discript riding? Dropped from the sky using Dion as padding to break his fall --- right smack on top of the liberal party? This is not an appointment - it's a bizarre annointment! Who are you kidding - Ignatieff is what they call a plant...taken from some strange garden growing in foreign soil and stuck artifically in our garden in our soil. Don't expect me to water the bastard herb...You keep watering and lets see what this sprout grows into...and whether it will strangle all the other plants - Ignatieff has grand plans - so do his Clintonite masters.

PT, are you jdobbin's mother or something? Iggy is an opportunistic leech. He comes back to Canada when he sees an opening to collect a public pension, and you are trying to equate him to "the god-like Obama"?

Harper is meeting with him as the leader of a country. Iggy is meeting with him so he can put it in his memoirs. Where's Jack's meeting? Where's Gilles'? What about Stelmach (god knows he has more clout than the almost-Liberal leader, even though he's an idiot).

You say Iggy came back to Canada to collect a public pension? Wow, I though that's why ALL politicans are politicans . BTW, Iggy was asked by the Lib organizers to come back to run for the Lib party, when Paul Martin retired.

I was surprised to hear that Obama has read some of Ignatieff's books. I have also heard that the Iggy/Obama meeting was more cordial and warm than either with Harper or the GG. I am looking forward to this relationship as the next time Obama comes to Canada, Iggy will be P.M. and Harper will have his meeting with Obama in a washroom when Obama is taking a crap. A lot of people complain the Iggy was planted into his riding. Why do people have a problem with this. If your not a member of the party living in that riding (which is probably only a few hundred), then what makes your stomach ache about this. Same thing goes with the party leadership. The other candidates dropped out. Rae never spoke to Iggy about his decision beforehand. There was supposed to be a quick early vote instead of a convention and completely within the party constitution. I don't see you guys complaining about Harper's backroom deal to overthrow prime minister Martin or Stockwell's failed coup d'etat in 2000.

Great and Hillary Clinton will be the den mother. You had better be careful what you wish for.

Hillary Clinton is a great politician and her husband was great too. What is it that you neocons hate about the Clinton years? The peace or the prosperity. You guys had better be careful what you wish for (conservative majority) since they will bring along banning abortion, cutting healthcare funding, economic mismanagement like in the Mulroney years, destroying women's rights, abandoning aboriginal programs, discrimination in immigration, U.S. style governance, etc.

That must be that there Conservative hidden agenda I've heard so much about. Oh, I almost forgot that if Harper was elected, there would be soldiers in the streets...with guns...Pretty scary stuff. This is all coming.

No not in the streets - unless they have already done their tour of duty and are the new homeless...Obama wants to sent thousands more of his own into Afghanistan...He will expect Harper to match the numbers tit for tat - better stay away from my sons. Okay - Harper and Obama can have the eldest born from my brood mares first litter.....he's not blood and is expendable....just like all the others that go to die - they are not ours - ours are in the boardroom...importing widgets from China. They are to important to die...yep - my son is worth more than yours.. - except the one from the previous marrage - his demise might serve to avenge my pride - kind of an inadvertant honour killing to piss of the wife and Harper might just be the hit man...if things go south and Obama and Biden and Bush have their way -----so you think Bush and Cheney are out of the picture - that they retired to shoot pigeons?

I'm sure it was as he doesn't like t be shown up by the Prime Minister of Canada. Funny Our PM could give a detailed and quick response with Obama UMM AH. I'm sure he didn't like to be schooled on what a Leader should look like like.

I actually agree with you. The Prime Minister is at times a better speaker than Obama. He's so clear and understandable when he speaks. I certainly don't like everything about him, but he's a good face for Canada. If he didn't play such partisan games, I'd happily vote for him again.

I'd be happy to vote for him if he hadn't made scary remarks. People can make fun of me as they want but it doesn't change what he has said: Reformers (like himself) are like conservative Republicans? Build a firewall around Alberta? Paul Martin is in favour of child pornography? Scolding the PCs for supporting gay rights and universal health care? Montreal is not as "Canadian" as other city which are English speaking?

Like most Canadians, I think he is a refreshing change from George Bush.

Canada’s love affair with Barack Obama

"We love him, with an asterisk. The broad-band smile, the Lincolnesque bearing, the sense of the man as an avatar of multiculturalism—it all makes Barack Obama the perfect U.S. president in the eyes of Canadians. Heaven knows we’ve been waiting.... When Angus Reid Strategies quizzed Canadians last week on behalf of Maclean’s, the lines practically glowed with excitement."

I'm not part of a throng that would have adored Hitler, but when Bush finally left the oval office, I was part of a throng with shoes in hand ready to give him a send off. It was glorious. Hallelujah!

I never thought I would see a Black President in my lifetime, and the fact that he is also intellegent, charismatic and compassionate .... did I mention intelligent? BONUS!

that is because you and a lot of the masses are celebrity worshiping sheep. BAAAAAAA

I don't know whatever you are refering to a letter was written to the Premier of Alberta urging him to exercise the same provincal rights that both quebec and ontario do. What is so scarry about that?
