The representative, Salah al-Bardawil, said that the draft stipulates a year-and-a-half long truce between Hamas and Israel. It also includes the opening of all border crossings for 80 percent of goods. Israel would need to clarify exactly what type of goods it would allow in, Bardawil said. Bardawil told the Egyptian newspaper that according to the draft agreement, the Rafah crossing would be closed from time to time. It's pithy, but I think it applies here as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that maybe -- MAYBE -- this time both sides might be able to stick to it and start scaling back some of the brutality that part of the world has seen quite enough of. dub Posted February 9, 2009 Report Share Posted February 9, 2009 israel's definition of "peace" and their definition of many other issues in this conflict is much different than what their true meanings are. israel will always try to justify, one way or another, their reason for sidelining the palestinians when trying to negotiate their future.
