Smallc Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 At any rate, if kids don't want to sing the national anthem in school, they should be accommodated. It's a free country, and not a tyranny where we shove nationalism down everyone's throat. I agree with you completely....the anthem should still be played though. Quote
Mr.Canada Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 I agree with you completely....the anthem should still be played though. Everyone should know the words, this is why it's sung. ToadBrother Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 They weren't even playing it Toad. I'm sorry if you don't love Jesus cause Christianity hurt you and I'm sorry that you hate Canada and dislike the flag and our National Anthem but please don't poison the next generation with your hatred of Canada. Why not just move to another country? Who said I hate Canada or the National Anthem? I'm merely saying that it is an act of tyranny to force anyone to sing an anthem. I grew up in a Christian denomination that in fact forbade the singing of the national anthem, and I basically stood, but did not sing. That was an accommodation, and that's all I'm talking about. Everyone should know the words, this is why it's sung at the primary level. Plus it is one thing that brings everyone together on the same level. Well, everyone except a few whiners who are perpetual victims and everything offends them. Wilber Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) What decision is she talking about? That which was made to voice opposition to the daily singing, that which was made to bar the daily singing, or that which re-allowed the daily singing? Wonder if they know themselves. I suppose that for some people a "welcoming atmosphere" is telling others all the things they can't do.
