"... Lib & Tory insiders are privately conceding that NDP candidate Ed Broadbent has the Ottawa-Centre riding all but locked up..."

Bourque Newswatch

It just goes to show that with the right candidate, any seat is in play. Ottawa-Centre is a seat that the Liberals have held for 20 years, but are poised to get knocked out head over tails. This bodes well for other higher profile NDP candidates like Pierre Decasse, and Monia Mazigh.

I wonder if Ed Broadbent will start traveling across the country now, as he has a lock on Ottawa Centre.

Ed is quite a magnet for votes.

Maybe he will come out West soon. :D

Magnet for votes? Ed Broadbent? Gimme a break.

Broadbent is 68 years old. (He's two years older than Paul Martin, and three years older than Brian Mulroney.)

BTW, Broadbent was born in 1936, Martin in 1938 and Mulroney in 1939.

The Senate exists for guys like this; in fact, Mulroney (Trudeau?) created a human rights boondoggle just for Broadbent. He should have stayed there.

As Broadbent said when he launched his campaign, he is 2 years older in age than Martin, but 20 years younger in ideas. ;)

Looking good, Ed. :D

I wonder what other seats the NDP can now look at in the Ottawa area.

I'm sure their marque candidate, Mahar Arar's wife, Monia will make a good contest out of it. Can't hurt to have Broadbent's riding next door.

Broadbent taking Ottawa Centre will be quite a symbolic victory, as it is the riding that includes the Parliament buildings, or immediately due South of them.

Things are really beginning to look up for Jack Layton's NDP. :)

I love that quote from Broadbent, and I would say, at least in part it's true. I think Ed & Jack potentially have more energy and may get more media play than all other candidates combined.

I was unaware that Mrs. Arar was running. Which riding?

Is it ottawa south? do a google search she has a website she is running against the premier of ontario's brother, david mcguinty

the NDP are hoping she will win - they consider her a marquee candidate ;)
