AngusThermopyle Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 I've never attended a Canadian symphony or ballet, and only rarely lived within reach of any publicly funded gallery. How'bout you? No symphonies or ballets, but I do enjoy the Stratford festival sometimes. As for galleries, well when you consider the garbage many of them display under the dubious title of art what would be the point of visiting them? Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
Argus Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 If the corporations bring in so much money, why do they need tax cuts and bail outs? I know this is difficult for someone as far out on the Left side of the political spectrum as you are to understand - but there is a difference between GIVING government money - ie, my money - to one of your arts clubs - and NOT TAKING quite so much money from a corporation. Argus Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Oh, Mr. Canada. I don't know what I'm going to do with you.1. The Arts make billions of dollars (46 Billion to be exact) and provide millions of jobs. Utter drivel. As I have already informed you, the study was nonsensical in suggesting every single person employed in a book store, for example, or who worked for a newspaper or radio or television or in an architectural firm or an advertising agency - even the guy who delivers flyers - is employed in the arts industry. Smallc Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Yeah, 46 billion in government funding changing hands to, "the arts." I agree. Good thing we don't put near that much into them. Quote
