We go back to living a clean life and not partaking in massive drug and alcohol abuses. We go back to teaching no sex before marriage in public schools. We go back to actually parenting our kids and not letting the TV and Xbox do the job. We go back to letting kids be kids and not grow up so fast. It all sounds very nice. Sadly, I don't think any legislation can force people to be better parents. In the Spring or Summer I'll be setting up outside an Abortion Clinic using enlarged graphic Images. I'll also be planning to use comments made here on MLW. I plan to let the Pro-Choicers know so that they show up and in turn the media will be there as well. It's going to be a war. I think you're setting yourself up for a huge disappointment. I walked past a hospital just a couple of weeks ago and there were crusaders just like yourselves marching up and down the street with their signs and billboards ("a full classroom died here today", and so forth...) and you know, MC, I didn't see a war anywhere. Because it seems pretty clear that you don't want to go back to some earlier time. So do you want the period before women had the right to vote? Apparently the period before "THE PILL". And a time when women couldn't get a divorce, the government lived in our bedrooms and it was ok to beat the hell out of a women after a good hard nights drinking. After WWII it started going down hill after the 60's it really went south. So lets say something like 1890-1958. That would be ideal. Everyone knew their place and didn't get out of line. The family unit was strong as was the influence of the Church on the community. There was no TV to brainwash our kids. Teachers weren't too socialist. Life was good. Mr. Canada, Socialism had been ripe for over 100 years, but the new Liberalism that came with the swinging 60s just wasn't Tommy Douglas. It was Pierre Trudeau. See, Tommy Douglas was probably more of the person you are describing then any Conservative of the eras, short of some of the prohibitionists. All those social structures made life better to create that Ozzie and Harriet feel you so desire. Yes Socialism helped provide those good lifes, something that hadn't happened in anytime prior in Canadian history. The end of the exploitation of labour with pay for a person to feed their family and spend time at home. Sorry to say but those days are gone, much like the level of unionization and socialism that existed in that era. We are moving away from that type of society for one that requires both members to work hard and bring home enough money that would equal one paycheck from 10 or even 15 years ago. It's hard to know your place, when you are running in and out of the house and juggling between two or 3 part-time or part and fulltime jobs. I can't ever recall meeting an abundance of Socialist Teachers. You sound more socialist then the teachers i grew up with. Infact, I have never seen or heard of Socialism being taught in school. Never had my Sons, Nieces, Nephew ever heard of Karl Marx..... and those that followed, let alone some Socialist principles of Sir John A MacDonald, MacKenzie King, John Diefenbaker who might well be called a Socialist Conservative. Even after Douglas, or some say with the advent of NDP that Socialism took a back seat to market capitalism and getting a piece of the pie. Bread and butter economics and power and wealth and greed, which has lead us to today. And this anamoly abortion bill..... and the current "socialists" But no NDP MP would be expelled from caucus for holding anti-abortion views, Ms. Mathyssen said. Tell everyone that if they just give the Conservatives a majority abortion legislation will be introduced as a private member's bill for a free vote. You must see me as a threat or else everyone would judty ignore me but everyone responds to me therefore giving what I say credibility. You have encouraged me, thank you sir. A majority of Canadians support Government regulation of abortion as shown in this poll from 2007.
