rbed0417 Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 I am a left wing person residing in Saskatchewan and have never voted for the provincial NDP. Why? Well I think its a joke of a party, full of members that are narrow minded and has no clue what Saskatchewan residents want. They base their campaigns on polls instead of coming up with new ideas themselves. In the last election, which they lost(big surprise, this is sarcasm), they based their campaign on this free perscription drug plan, which is good for seniors, but come on, it is clear that no one in the NDP did their homework about Saskatchewan. The largest age demographic in Saskatchewan is 20-24, followed by 25-29. Anyone can do the math on this one. The Saskatchewan NDP needs to wake up, elect a leader who isn't slouching all the time and has some charisma! Protect the environment, fix the labor shortage, fix the highways(we have too many and that's why they are garbage), help the farmer, tax the upper class, not the middle and lower classes, who in Saskatchewan pay the highest compared to anywhere else in Canada. I can't see the NDP winning an election until some of its members give their heads a shake or even step down. What are others opinions on this? Quote
fellowtraveller Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 I think you should take it to rabble.ca, where people will agree with anything you say as long as it praises the NDP. Quote The government should do something.

Calvert is gone, what more do you want. however, Saskatchewan is enjoying growth and prosperity and good government under Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan party. Highways - getting fixed Environment - non issue and gets in the way of province making money Labor shortage - Wall went to Ontario and pitched SK, can't do anymore than that help the farmer - done, farmers are doing better with Wall and his policies than under calvert Tax the upper class - hell no, you wouldn't be helping farmers and would chase business and jobs away. Not tax middle and lower classes - done, more money in the pocket is better for anyone NDP will win eventually, providing Brad Wall goofs. People are sick of NDP rule for close to twenty years. fellowtraveller Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 How come when Saskatchewan does it, its good, but when Manitoba does it, conservatives think its bad? Maybe it is because of the reality that the Manitoba NDP govt has ensured that the province is an eternal leech on equalization payments? The rest is just window dressing. Follow the money. Smallc Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 You obviously know so much about Manitoba that I will bow to your superior knowledge....that was sarcasm BTW. Quote
fellowtraveller Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 You obviously know so much about Manitoba that I will bow to your superior knowledge....that was sarcasm BTW. I admit that I have noticed that Manitoba has developed and continues to derive a significant chunk of its operating budget by leeching off other provinces.. That wasn't sarcasm, it was fact. Smallc Posted December 6, 2008 Report Posted December 6, 2008 I admit that I have noticed that Manitoba has developed and continues to derive a significant chunk of its operating budget by leeching off other provinces.. That's because equalization has been growing so fast, that even our economy growing at over 3% a year can't keep up to it. Now that the formula has changed, we will begin to claw our way up...as will Quebec. The thing is though, the wohle program is based on an average. That means that there will always be someone above the line and someone below the line. Quote
