jdobbin Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 (edited) http://www.thestar.com/FederalElection/article/511891 Andrew McKeever, the embattled NDP candidate in the riding of Durham, has finally thrown in the towel. He has been at the centre of a storm regarding controversial negative comments he made about war resisters. "Effective immediately, I am resigning as a candidate for Durham in the federal election. Because of the repetition of comments I made before becoming a candidate, comments that I have already apologized for and profoundly regret, I can no longer continue as a candidate," McKeever said in a statement released today. I don't know that I even saw those comments. Edited October 4, 2008 by jdobbin Quote
kimmy Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 http://www.thestar.com/FederalElection/article/511891I don't know that I even saw those comments. I don't know what the comments were either, and I'm having a hard time keeping track of the resignations anymore. Is there a scorecard or a programme available somewhere? I'm getting tired of it, to be honest. It's starting to seem like anybody who has ever expressed an opinion in public before is probably unqualified to hold public office in this country. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
blueblood Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 http://www.thestar.com/FederalElection/article/511891I don't know that I even saw those comments. On MDL last night, Ezra Levant and the Liberal strategist grilled the NDP strategist alright. I tried to look for it on CTV.ca, but they don't show the night edition. Anyway, Levant made some pretty big accusations, I don't know if they are true or not. The Liberal wasn't disagreeing however. M.Dancer Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 What kind of negative commonets could he make that weren't factual? Sounds like the NDP finally found a candidate that wasn't a knee jerk left wingnut.... Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
Rovik Posted October 5, 2008 Report Posted October 5, 2008 At least the NDP and Liberal candidates had the decency to quit the race. The Conservative's Ritz and Richardson should have done the same and if they didn't voluntarily quit they should have been forced to by the party. But why am I not surprised. Quote
