Smallc Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Have you been to Duaphin? The city is a huge dump. Nice arena, but the rest of the city is a dump. I went through there last week on my way home to Winnipeg. I live within an hour of Dauphin. Perhaps you missed the part where I said that Dauphin is NOT the norm. Quote

There is a nice looking school division office there though. That is one impressive looking building. Quote

It's an old farm machinery dealership. kengs333 Posted October 4, 2008 Report Posted October 4, 2008 If norway is so good, why don't you emigrate there... Same goes to you in respect to Ireland. I'll even pay for the ticket, brew the canola-based biodeisel jet fuel, single-handedly fuel the plane and load all the baggage, and fly it myself if I have to... Quote

madmax Posted October 31, 2008 Report Posted October 31, 2008 (edited) The answer is simple. Nobody wanted to do business here because we had the highest corporate tax rates in the country for years. The answer is never simple. Business appeared to be quite good in Sask in 2007. Outpacing Alberta. That is impressive. Don't be fooled by Corporate Taxes. Good for banks, good for Cable Companies, sometimes good for manufacturing, sometimes not worth a tinkers damn. There are many ways around corporate taxes. Especially in Manufacturing. In the past 12 months, shipments from Saskatchewan have increased 8.1 per cent, according to Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME) president Jayson Myers. The shipments amount to nearly two per cent of total national production in anindustry that directly accounts for 17 per cent of Canada's GDP and recordsapproximately $600 billion in annual shipments, according to the CME.As part of the association's Manufacturing Awareness Week, member companiesacross the country, including six in Saskatchewan, are inviting MPs into their plants to showcase the sector. Myers said the industry is struggling under the high costs of materials and energy, but at the same time is beginning to work on highly-specializedprojects, such as pipelines, especially in Western Canada.Along with Alberta, Saskatchewan's manufacturing sector is experiencing growth notmatched by any other provinces, he said. Myers expects the industry to flourish herein the coming years."Manufacturing is not the biggest sector in Saskatchewan, but it's the biggest value-creating sector in the province," he said. "To be a manufacturer in Saskatchewan, you've got to be innovative, you've got to be world-class and you've got to see the world as your market, and that's exactly what these companies are doing Edited October 31, 2008 by madmax Quote
