Mr.Canada Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Move to Amsterdamn...................Society should be looking for ways that leave a road open from prostitution....no woman want to be a hooker...on the street level - and some that are married - are married hookers in a relationship with a husband that is based on her prostituting herself - the average suburban wife is a hooker....but a well paid for one and taken care of. Yes, exactly Oleg. I'm fully against street level hookers and penalties should be stiffened. However, the sex industry should be regulated along the same lines that booze is. Almost everyone likes sex just like booze so lets regulate it, license it, tax it and run it in a clean way off the streets and tastefully. Like dial a bottle. Pliny Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 You need to face the reality that our system is setup such that tax dollars pay for medical care and support programs in this country. That you would rather the business be underground, causing violence and even more health problems as a result, just means you're going to spend more tax dollars on it now. When did I say I wanted the "business" to go underground? Furthermore, all of the problems you associate with drug use are still being faced by our government and society because prohibition is an utter failure. What problems are there that I associate with drug use? Agreed. Prohibition is an utter failure. On top of spending money combating a problem they are never going to win, they are missing out on the opportunity to regulate and create revenue from a relatively safe form of relaxation. The government regulates alcohol and tobacco, which are arguably worse than marijuana. Drunk driving, domestic violence and lung cancer are all directly related to their consumption. The government won't ban them again though, because people will go out of their way to find it anyway. The revenues made off these drugs are extensive, so you personally do not provide as much funding into the system that supports these "users" as those that are using the drugs. Their personal responsibility is in the tax dollars spent on regulated products. That we have socialized healthcare is a benefit to everyone in Canada and I can only assume that your model of "personal responsibility" would look to take that away from Canadians. It's a good thing your values are not the norm in this country. Right again. My values are not the norm in this country. You think socialized health care is a benefit to everyone in Canada. You also think you speak for everyone in Canada. I think that my model of "personal responsibility" is better than your model of personal irresponsibility. You may need someone to govern your conduct but perhaps that is a result of a public education that I suppose everyone benefits from regardless of whether or not they pay attention. Oleg Bach Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Look at the liberal "harm reduction" program in Toronto - You will see a well dressed and well paid so-called social worker standing on the street with toxic 16 year old crack girl - twitiching as he spine contorts - Then you will see on of our fine Natives arrive on a bike and hand the kid some crack while all the while the harm reduction worker oversees the harm reduction...the worker benefits - and the crack dealer benefits - the young girl is brough incrimentally another step closer to death - so in eccense...the social worker and the crack dealer are parasites and the young girl is the host being drained dry of her life - real nice scene.....and some want this to increase - are you nuts? You got all this from the idea of putting government taxes and regulations on prostitution and marijuana? Where did you get crack from? Talk about slippery slope.. Quote
