August1991 Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 Critically, let me show in English a French perspective to this scandal. This Liberal scandal is not new but Martin has made it weird. He's a "bad" Liberal. For federalists, spending money in Québec to "save" Canada is OK. That's what Chrétien -and Trudeau- did. Never deny. Even Mulroney did this. The perception among federalists and separatists in Québec is that this is normal. It's only a problem if everyone else thinks it's wrong. (Martin is making a big deal of this... Chrétien is skiiing. Truly, Chrétien is right. Canada is bigger than this scandal.) Result of Martin`s reaction? The Liberals are "zero" in Québec, and then lose seats in Ontario because they are not the true Canadian, bilingual party. The Tories under Stronach (Kim Campbell), Clement (?), Harper (Mondale). The BQ wins. Quote
maplesyrup Posted February 18, 2004 Report Posted February 18, 2004 The Bloc wins the majority of the seats in Quebec, so what? Charest is there for another 3-4 years, isn't he? And the games will continue, with fewer and fewer people voting each election.. Quote An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't. Anatole France
Slavik44 Posted February 19, 2004 Report Posted February 19, 2004 the BQ will of course get the seats in quebec..no suprise..but they our no winners the just get to delay the inevitable, but until the party dies it is great having them around...right now the consevatives are not strong enough in quebec so lit a little dog annoy the big bear..until what ever animal it is that the consevatives are matures and grows up and is ready to fight in quebec. That shoudl probabley take two ro three elections wich is exactly how long it should take for the BQ's to end up with less then 15 seats. The conservatives win.
