capricorn Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Hard to say Harper is some sort of totalitarian and is going to oppress everybody when he is a world leader who is taking China to task on it's abysmal record of human rights. What? Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
capricorn Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 He doesn't speak about human rights with the U.S. even when it involves a Canadian citizen. You mean you actually knew what blueblood was talking about? I think I have been underestimating your powers of communication. Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers

Alta4ever Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 Was Chretien boycotting certain nations in advance of their Olympics? You tell me? Maybe he didn't attend Salt Lake because he was boycotting the americans. Quote "What about the legitimacy of the democratic process, yeah, what about it?" Alta4ever Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 I think I am on the record more than once that the Tories will win another election.I am still waiting to hear why Harper has a more hostile relationship with China than Britain, the U.S. and the Japanese. China doesn't own our debt Quote "What about the legitimacy of the democratic process, yeah, what about it?" Some caught in the act of fighting with the taliban as a none uniformed solder? Please do tell what human right was denied or are just upset that they aren't feeding steak to him? Topaz Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 I was just thinking that Harper like to change the rules and what if he decided for him and his chief ministers would be the ones to run with the torch instead of athletes? No, that wouldn't work, most of the Cons are so out of shape, they die before they ran ten feet, they have to have subs with the minster's name on them instead!! Quote

jdobbin Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 You tell me? Maybe he didn't attend Salt Lake because he was boycotting the americans. Hardly, he was there for meetings in the U.S. President on September 9, 2002 for bilateral meetings in Detroit, the same year as the Olympics. There are some lovely pictures of the two shaking hands if you want them. Chretien was the first foreign leader to visit President Bush in 2001 on February 6, a year prior to the Salt Lake Games. At the time the Olympics were on, Chretien was in Europe on government business. Quote
jdobbin Posted August 29, 2008 Author Report Posted August 29, 2008 China doesn't own our debt They do own some our debt but just as like the U.S, it is just a portion. The Japanese are still the largest foreign owners of U.S. debt, ahead of the Chinese and slightly ahead of the British. The vast majority of U.S,. debt is owned by Americans just as Canadians mostly own their own debt. Quote
