guyser Posted March 19, 2008 Report Posted March 19, 2008 I wonder if our medical system will ever return to normal since thousands of Canadians have fled to the US to practice their medical professions there. More Dr's returned to Canada than left in the past few years. Quote

At this rate, how many years will it take to get them all back? And what about other medical professionals? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Whats the point of getting all the Dr's back? Probably the same time you get all yours back. Is there a point to this question? Nurses are being enticed with plenty of perks to move south to US hospitals. CDN nurses are well sought after because they are well educated. I guess when you want the best............ And what about other medical professionals? Friend of mine tried for 6 years to get into med school here, always had to marks above 96%, never made it. Applied to Aus. got in and says he will never be back. Quote "What about the legitimacy of the democratic process, yeah, what about it?" Probably the same time you get all yours back. Is there a point to this question? Yes...it is always fun to point out that a country with one tenth the population loses far more than it gains. (Observation: Dr. 90210 - Robert Rey (plastic surgeon from Brazil now practicing in Beverly Hills), has a wife who threatens him with going back to Canada in one episode.) No....not that! Nurses are being enticed with plenty of perks to move south to US hospitals. CDN nurses are well sought after because they are well educated. I guess when you want the best............ "Enticed" ......or forced to move in self interest to a better paying market. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Guest American Woman Posted March 20, 2008 Report Posted March 20, 2008 Yes, they hurt indeed. Under those 3 majorities, Canadians saw their medical system underfunded to such an extent that line ups for operations became the norm. I wonder if our medical system will ever return to normal since thousands of Canadians have fled to the US to practice their medical professions there. I laughed my ass off when I heard Martin wasn't even using the medical system, but a private clinic instead. How can he be using a private clinic?-- I thought Canada couldn't have private clinics-- which I have to say, I don't really understand. You have both public and private schools, so why not both public and private clinics? Quote

As far as I know, they are stll illegal in BC but they get around that using loopholes. http://www.findprivateclinics.ca/ Edited March 20, 2008 by Carinthia Quote
