Bobby Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Not long ago Poland was mourning the death of its best military pilots and Air Force commanders. All 20 Polish AF officers, including 2 generals, remaining on the board of a new CASA C-295M military transport plane were killed in the crash near Miroslawiec AF Base in north-western Poland. I’ve learned about this fatal accident from night reports of Poland’s CNN - the TVN24 TV channel. And there were some strange, even mysterious circumstances reported on TVN24: the pilots didn’t report any problems to the control tower, but suddenly the plane dived down and crashed. Moreover, these transport planes in their military version have been produced by a Spanish CASA aviation concern since the 1970s on Boeing’s license. As to the newest C-295M models, they have been sold, I hear, to many countries in Europe, Africa and Asia and - so far - they never crashed! Thus, they are safe, dependable and their equipment is up to the highest standards. That is why they’ve chosen to carry Polish soldiers and material to and from Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia, Lebanon and other Polish military combat (!) and peace-keeping missions. And this air disaster has become the first one. A misfortune or… some diversion down the plane with important Polish generals, squadron commanders, training chiefs and high skilled military pilots? It stands to reason! Surely, this flight catastrophe (by the way, the third most important Polish military air accident since WWII) was caused by a purposeful sabotage. In my mind only one question arises who could be interested in such crash and especially who could be able to organize and carry out so delicate operation? It is clear as a day that it reeks of a purposeful attempt, made by those who have close relations with Polish military now. To my seeming it could be done by Americans, who is known for everybody in the world as Polish best friends especially in military sphere, where US assistance to Poland is the largest one in comparison with European countries, for instance. Most likely lately Polish military has opened their mouth too wide for agreement to deploy US AMD elements on the territory of their country and the Pentagon has been under Washington’s order to give them a lesson for their brash racketeering and grabbing… Quote
AngusThermopyle Posted January 31, 2008 Report Posted January 31, 2008 Well it's certainly a tragic accident. I do find however that your supposition as to the cause of the crash is rather nonesensical and loopy. Accidents do happen, when one is talking military kit these accidents can happen more frequently due to the fact that the equipment sees a high rate of usage. Keep in mind as well that parts do fail from time to time with no warning or apparent reason. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
xul Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 the pilots didn’t report any problems to the control tower, but suddenly the plane dived down and crashed. Technically, if the accident took place in the plane's landing or taking off stage, it would be caused by wind-shear. Wind shear is an atmosphere phenomena that the air may suddenly shear down in a certain small area. If it happened in the way of a plane takeoff or land, the plane would sink down tens meters in a second, and pilot would have no time to reaction before it crashed into earth so it may lead to fatal problem. Unfortunately, modern technology has not an effective way to detect wind shear. Accidnets happened sometimes. Usually a big plane such as BE747 is safe than a small plane when it meets a wind shear because it has more inertia and wind can hardly change its way suddenly. Quote

Funny you mentioned Poland and flying...a few years ago my friend Bill - who was of Ukrainian Polish background - who was also a very funny young man, would like to shoot comedy videos - well behind my house we set up the "Polish Space Travel Training Center" . Our facilty consisted of a step ladder and a rope tied to a tree...at the end of the rope was the "space module" a big wooden box..we would sit in it and swing about practicing for our final slavonic slip into outer space - our craft was usually fueled by at least 40 ounces of pure Polish Vodka - it was really quite funny....I guess you had to be there...It was not too long ago...I smile when I think of young Bill....the first Polish astronut!
