The SPP or NAU

For those who want to know more about this SPP, the website www.eagleforum.org/topics/NAU/ There's alot of info on there and from what I've read there Bush is doing alot that congress doesn't know about. It also mentions a group here in Canada that wants Harper to let Canadians have a vote on this but since both the Cons and the Libs DO agree on this, he probably won't have one. I found a story about China opening deep ports in Mexico and that they will be using the "super highway" from Mexico to Canada to drown us with their products! For those who don't care or don't believe in this, you needn't surf there,BUT wouldn't you at least want to know what the Cons and the Libs have done to this country???

You may reduce yourself to a self-indulgent wreck.

Your conceited and over bearing attitude may make you unpopular and propel you to constantly look out for new people to try to impress.

Self importance is probably a fetish with you.

Although physically developed, you are apt to be mentally and emotionally immature.

Your idea of love and affection may not go much further than permissiveness and voluptuousness.

What you regard as sensitivity in yourself , others might see as merely self pity and a complaining nature.

Your striving for the lime light is apt to rebound - notoriety is more likely than fame for your life.

Scandal is a danger until you learn the necessary lesson of self restraint.

I can tell you that you have not!

I will slap back mark my word.

I will teach everyone here why you are not worth listening to unless they already knew that ,,nobody.

Take another shot I am only warming up.

So the US Congress, perhaps the biggest think group in the world with more researchers than anywhere else, knows nothing about a tidbit of info you found on a website created by some tin foil hat types?

Do you read your posts before you click submit?

Does that make any logical sense? No, didn't think so.

China already drowns us in products. I don't mind it though, it reduces the costs of everything else in the country. Which is fine with me.

I don't consider myself a "lefty"

You can label yourself an African elephant, but that doesn't make it so.

It takes a change of philosophy's and only the GREEN PARTY have the right policy.

all the rest are beholden to business in some form.

We are about PEOPLE.

Are you kidding LOL

As part of the NDP’s national campaign to stop Stephen Harper’s sellout of Canadian sovereignty, NDP International Trade Critic Peter Julian announced this week the formation of the NDP’s working group to stop the so-called Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP).

“Canadians have already felt the devastation that came from the softwood sellout and the ongoing privatization of our public services,” said the MP from Burnaby-New Westminster. “They don’t want to see Harper take us any further down this road.”

“The people whose families are dealing with the consequences of these misguided policies are the same people who are being shut out of the decision-making process,” stated NDP Leader Jack Layton. “Harper is telling people that there’s no room for them at the table – and that’s not right.”

In 2005, the Martin Liberals committed Canada to a trilateral political and economic framework aiming to harmonize Canada’s social, economic and security policies and institutions with those of Mexico and the United-States. The talks have all gone on behind closed doors and even elected MPs have been kept out of the discussions. Though the SPP agenda has largely been kept secret, it is known to involve over 300 policy areas, including pesticide use, food safety and air safety, civil liberties, human rights, and environmental protection, as well as oversight from Washington over security decisions and energy policy.

NDP activities to stop the SPP involve: a national tour (launched on August 20, 2007) of public forums to speak out on the SPP and to ensure everyday Canadians get informed and have their say; and keeping the pressure on the House of Commons to expose the SPP agenda through its Standing Committees. The NDP is working alongside civil society groups and labour unions to hold the Conservative government to account and to increase pressure on the Harper government to stop SPP implementation until there is a meaningful public consultation and a full debate and vote in Parliament.

Peter Julian and other NDP MPs have been traveling across the country to speak out on the issue. Events held thus far have included Moose Jaw, Regina, Sault Ste. Marie, Ottawa, Fredericton, and Halifax. Upcoming events will be held in Winnipeg, Victoria, Hamilton, and Kamloops. Many other cities are in the process of planning similar public stop the SPP town hall meetings to help inform Canadians about the realities of the SPP agenda.

“Each and every member of our caucus is going to do their part to make sure that the voices of ordinary Canadians get heard,” said Layton. “That’s what the Stop the SPP working group is about. We have a mandate from Canadians to stand up to Harper and to protect Canadians’ rights to make sovereign decisions about the direction this country is taking on the issues that matter to them.”

Gee , I hope all Calgarians aren't like you but you do remind me of some gang in Ottawa. I bet if I'd told you the spring of 01' that a plane was going to fly into the WTB, you'd say I was crazy. Keep an open mind that anything can happen, than you won't be surprised when it happens.

That's very good.

Also about time don't you think?

You may not have caught that I was in fact an ndp for 30 years?

I have to say its just another issue that took along time to be addressed by this new layton ndp that I have serious problems with.

The SPP is a new corporate agenda for North America. In partnership with similar US and Mexican groupings, the SPP follows the recommendations of the Canadian Council of Chief Executives, representing the biggest ~150 Canadian corporations controlling over 70% of the Canadian economy. The SPP aims to harmonize (i.e. “lower”) approximately 300 environmental, food, labour and any other standards deemed to get in the way of corporate profit. Privatization is a major part of the SPP, with the Mexican oil industry, Canadian healthcare, public services and education as distinct targets.

However, anybody active in the fight against corporate control will not be surprised by the attempts to privatize and de-regulate. The new element contained within the SPP is security. In exchange for access to the US market by Canadian and Mexican businesses, the US military is demanding a common security perimeter across North America. George Bush’s patriot act and homeland security may soon be spreading North and South of the border. To put it simply, the SPP is Imperialism.

What is the SSP.....

It's a topic that's been covered here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and a half dozen other threads.

In short, the major problem and danger due to SSP is the severeb strain it is putting on the world's known tinfoil reserves....

Two corrections, one I'm not a "he" and two, I don't consider myself a "lefty"

We'll call you Righty Topazette then! It seems a lot of lefties don't realize they are lefties! Are you certain about your gender?

Just a little humour, I apologize.

I guess you think you are middle of the road, a centrist? Or perhaps apolitical and non-partisan; just human?
