Anyway, I guess Richard Dawkins must also be a far-right nationalist xenophobe racist as well. http://www.blazingcatfur.ca/2015/07/25/richard-dawkins-supports-pride-jarva-calls-the-swedish-left-pathetic/- 24 replies

Do you not see the quotation marks? They are considered 'extreme far-right'. That doesn't mean they are 'extreme far-right'. Yes, they were conservative in 1988. That was 27 years ago. I'm not sure if the conservative label accurate describes them today though. Using BBC to determine what is 'far-right' or not. You amuse me Waldo. Yes, many people in Sweden take the view that either you are a hardcore socialist, or you are a nazi.- 24 replies

I don't think that the Swedish democrats can be accurately described as conservatives. Classical liberal is far closer. Couldn't any gay pride parade be considered passive-aggressive to some group?- 24 replies

I guess I must be one of these evil 'xenophobic right-wing nationalists' since I support gay rights and think gay people shouldn't be killed for being gay. I also support freedom of speech and don't think that apostates should be killed.- 24 replies

Alongside economic growth, maybe. Aging, well you need young working people to support it. A demographic time bomb is coming, I don't think it is helpful to pretend otherwise.

Stumbled upon this today: http://www.int-res.com/articles/meps/188/m188p117.pdf "Corals growing in seawater at a reduced pH of 7.2 calcified at half the rate of control corals at pH 8.0" So coral only grows at half the speed at pH 7.2 compared to a pH of 8.0. Given that pH will change from like 8.1 to 7.8 over the next hundred years, doesn't look like ocean acidification is a big deal. Edit: Here is another study that suggests coral reefs can't compete in a pH less than 7.7. http://www.nature.com/nclimate/journal/v1/n3/full/nclimate1122.html

A bit related, but apparently pride events are now banning drag queens because apparently drag queens can be offensive to trans people. http://www.pinknews.co.uk/2015/07/20/pride-event-bans-drag-queens-in-case-they-are-offensive/- 24 replies

Yes, in the upside-down progressive land known as Sweden, gay pride parades are now 'expressions of pure racism' by 'xenophobic far-right nationalists'. I wonder how long before Canada and other Western countries adopt this view. http://www.blazingcatfur.ca/2015/07/21/sweden-democrats-plan-gay-pride-parade-through-muslim-areas-leftists-and-gay-rights-groups-decry-the-parade-as-racist/ I suggest you read the article. I'll just give a few parts of it here: "On July 29, a gay pride parade is scheduled in Sweden. But, you see, this is no ordinary gay pride parade. The parade is scheduled to go through Tensta and Husby – two areas where Muslim immigrants are more than 75% of the population." "The Facebook page is absolutely filled with angry comments from leftists, attacking the “xenophobic right-wing nationalists” for organizing a gay pride parade through Muslim areas. Since Islam holds that gays should be executed, something like this is obviously an attack on Muslims and should therefore be outlawed. At least, that’s what Swedish leftists – and, indeed, Swedish gays – are saying. Leftists are organizing a counter-demonstration against this gay pride parade."

If I cannot answer the questions, I cannot finish the test. And if I cannot finish the test, I cannot get a result. Also, the set of political beliefs is not limited to two dimensions.
-
The current system already plays region against region by giving some regions insanely higher per capita representation for not good reason.
-
So you are resorting to circular reasoning? Do I think that all the current major political parties are too spineless to support equality and do what's right? Yes. Although I suspect the NDP might try a different approach to achieve the same objective (try to bribe rather than punish the non-compliant provinces). PEI having over 50 x the percapita senate reprentation as BC is already anti-democratic. My position, that everyone should be equally represented by the government, is the only democratic position. 1. The provinces that are against people having equal representation are abusing their power to prevent political change. 2. There is a different for punishing people for having political beliefs, and punishing provincial governments that think that their people should have 50 x as much per capita representation as another province and are preventing change towards equality. As far as I'm concerned, it should be 1 person, 1 vote, zero compromise.
-
Why? Justify your claim? Yes, I am aware that the government does not currently do that. I'm advocating that they should threaten to do so in order to abolish the senate so that everyone has equal representation.
-
Here is what you do: Give every province and territory the option to leave Canada. So if the government isn't respecting all the regions, these regions can threaten to leave.
-
Is the second order to implement proportional representation? Anything other than abolition is unacceptable and immoral or inefficient. Having a situation where people in PEI have over 50 times as much representation per capita as people in BC violates the concept of democratic equality. Having an unelected body where people just appoint their political friends results in corruption. Even if you rectified both of these problems, at best you would have a duplicate of the house of commons, which would make the senate a pointless waste of money. Prior to the USA civil war, the slavery abolitionists tried to isolate and punish the non-compliant states in order to get rid of slavery. Were the abolitionists unjust extortionists that deserved to go to jail? Congratulations, they produced a report. You know there are cheaper ways to produce reports, right? Hire civil servants or fund universities or think tanks. You would get far more and better quality reports per dollar spent.
-
It's not impossible. People aren't thinking creative enough. What the federal government needs to do is threaten economic sanctions or economic retaliation against any province that does not agree with senate abolition. So If PEI thinks its people deserve 50 x more senate representation as British Columbians, perhaps PEI should pay 50 times as many taxes per capita as BC. Another option is for the provinces that are pro-abolition to separate from Canada and declare a republic of Canada with a completely new legal foundation. Then they will no longer be restricted by our current flawed legal foundation. So a second option is to essentially destroy the current Canadian state and replace it with a new and better one.
-
The two are not mutually exclusive. Benevolent terrorism is a theoretical possibility.
-
A Good/evil view is 1 dimensional not 2 dimensional. I think the word you were looking for is binary, not 2 dimensional.
-
So because Big Guy grew up in ancient times when people were racist, today calling islamic terrorism terrorism is somehow racist? Is that the implication? Do different groups just blindly label all those they disagree with as terrorists? Yes. For example, I am a terrorist by definition according to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. All atheists are terrorists according to our ISIS funding, Wahhabi spreading 'ally'.
-
Not everyone that disagrees with your 'politically correct' progressive narrative takes this position. Many view the Saudi's and the Gulf Sheiks as a problem, some even take the position that the Saudi's and the Gulf Sheiks are a bigger problem then ISIS + Iran combined. The Saudi's and the Gulf Sheiks having been using their oil money to spread Wahhabism for decades. That is one of the reasons for the development of groups like Boko Haram, ISIS, Al Shabab, etc. I think that Tarek Fatah, who is muslim (which matters to you for some reason), takes this position. To be fair, that is preferable to being killed for being an apostate. Some of what they preach is doctrinally correct, some of what they preach is doctrinally incorrect. Some of what they preach is ambiguous. Many factors. One of them is decades of funding of Wahhabism from the Saudis. If you think there hasn't been cleansing of non-muslims in regions conquered by muslims over the past 1400 years, then your understanding of history is very incorrect. Just for starters, why don't you look up the Armenian genocide?

If you are trying to imply that I implied this, you are incorrect. In any case, I was pointing out your complete hypocrisy. Going on about how we need significant mitigation policies to save the planet while simultaneously thinking that those significant mitigation policies shouldn't or won't affect you. -
