There's only two things they can do with that money, pay it in profits to the owners/shareholders - who should then be taxed, or use it to plow it back into the company, which is a good thing.
-
Taxes are a cost of doing business. All costs of doing business contribute to the cost of whatever item or service that business provides to the public. The higher the taxes, the higher the cost of the service. Don't tax them. Tax the owners when they are paid a profit, or let the businesses expand.

Why would a far rightest tell people to vote for Layton? I would vote for Ignatieff way before I would vote for Layton.
-
You mean Ignatieff has been sucking up to, since he was pleased to grant an interview to the Sikh terrorist supporter who praised the men who beat up Dosanjh. And unlike Wai Young, he knew full well who and what he was before the accepted the interview.
-
I have to say that Baird's angry man act doesn't irritate me nearly as much as the phony self-righteouess Ralph Goodale puts on with his underwear every morning. That perpetual look of outrage and indignation in every single interview got boring years ago.

If I recall, Mr C was hyperventilated over public sex and nudity, and hasn't he endorsed the NDP?
-
So you're saying that among the bad things about him are that he's pompous, doesn't give straight answers, and ... you think he's gay?

Whichever politician can put the dumbest message into the simplest format, with lots of colour and sound.

The Liberals and NDP aren't making any comments because they don't want to be seen as opposing the Tamil Tigers for fear it costs them votes. Also, if they remark on it someone in the press is liable to ask them "So, does your party now agree with the Tigers being on the terrorist list and that fundraising should be illegal?" And neither Layton nor Ignatief wants to get a question like that.
-
Rick is handy to have around for those who need a refresher course on what the NDP is really all about. This is a party which contains a wild assortment of nutbars and freaks, including a deputy leader who is both a 911 truther and an anti-Semite, and a lot of people, including Layton, who are admirers of Fidel Castro and other communist dictators. The NDP

Ignatieff won't even speak about his private interview with Sukhminder Hansra. He is finished, and will now have to leave the country...
-
Oh yeah. Shocking that Harper banned all fund raising for the Tamil Tigers and put them on the terrorist list - despite the fierce opposition of the Liberals and NDP.

The Reps are calling for spending cuts ONLY on the programs they don't like, which tend to be the ones helping the poor. The Reps will, however, defend with their last breath, farm subsidies, subsidies to various industries, military spending, etc. They will also continue to demand tax cuts, regardless of how that increases the deficit. Recall that they forced Obama to continue the Georgie Bush's tax cut for the rich, which was set to expire this year. The dems offered to just have the higher tax on those earning over $300k, I believe, but the Republicans were having none of it.

Tories turning attacks toward Layton, NDP

Well, I can tell you categorically that if I lived in Sweden - I wouldn't be living in Sweden! -

Don't forget that provincial tax rates will add another 11%-21% to that. Now in places like Sweden you might wind up paying half your income in taxes, too, but you get a WHOLE LOT more back for that then we get from our Canadian governments. -

My income comes from overseas and from the US in the form of royalty cheques. My taxes on that will probably be over $100,000 this year. I am putting up with it. Taxation is one of the things you need to accept to be part of society. However, if those taxes rise substantially, and is spent on things which I consider unnecessary or stupid, then I'm going to have to think of moving to somewhere cheaper. My income doesn't depend on my location, after all, and there are places in the world where I would pay virtually no taxes on that income. This is one of the things the government has to bear in mind. If you make it too expensive then a number of people - and companies - will opt out and you will get nothing. -
I'm not a fan of Obama. I think he screwed up by leaving too much to Nancy Pelosi, and that he shouldn't have focused on health care reform but campaign financing reform. However, we're not ten years away, but three years away from George Bush's multi-year deficits, and just coming out of a massive recession - and into Republican control of the House. His options have been severely limited.

The guy saying everyone should vote for Jack Layton??
-
Yes, but Free Dominion is nowhere near as bad as Rabble. Nor as authoritarian.
-
Could be because the whole mess of a deficit was the Republican's fault, and that the hugely expensive bailout was their idea, oh, and that there was a huge, whopping big deficit courtesy of Georgie Bush Junior even before that.

What other message boards?

If you are going to suggest the Canadian Left is the same as the American Right you will be doing them no kindness.
