  1. As someone who is opposed to abortions, I have huge problems with Morgentaler getting the Order of Canada. But your racist overtone is something else. Your statement about Morgentaler targeting Anglo-Saxons has no basis in logic or facts, and both you and I know it.
  2. Less we forget, the rights of Canadians are neither practical nor common sensical. I am still waiting for you to show me how I can avoid paying taxes as a Franco-Ontarian. Or where you got the information you use as a basis for the belief I am economically disadvantaged. Gotta know, since I do pay taxes and I have very few economic worries. I can take of my pride in anything I take pride in. From the government, I expect good government, law and order, and respect of the rights of ALL Canadians. So, is it good bye translation of offficial documents in English by the government of Quebec? The guy broke the law, and so did the government. . And except when YOU (personnally) seek to deny the rights of other Canadians. Of course, an English-speaking Albertan in the same situation would not have to pay court costs. That's common sense indeed.
  3. Nobody is immune from anything. And the judgement said nothing about the language(s) spoken by the officer issuing the tickets, or the languages on the tickets. It had to do with the language of court proceedings.
  4. So sorry, Sir. Perhaps I should follow your highly sophisticated exposition on how the value of individuals is to be measured by whatever ethnic or lnguistic group they belong to (a la "the French contribute nothing of value and should be kicked out of Canada". But I am too brainwashed and unable to exercise my mind to start writing things like "Les Anglais are all pigs and they should be kicked out of Quebec"
  5. Here`s more substance that your drivel deserves. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who comes renting like `this group is a bunch of this`, `French-Canadians contribute nothing of value, cut them loose`, or `Maudis anglais`is a xenophobe, period. So feel free to parrot whatever bigoted rant soothes you. And to find the truth about you distateful. I won`t waste my time reading you.
  6. Members of Canada`s police and armed forces who are dedicated to their duties are clearly on Canada`s site, no matter their headgear. You stand on another side, your problem.
  7. But religious discrimination is? A headgear is not what makes or unmakes a Canadian. It is the person wearing it. As for the argument that people should check their religion at the door when getting a job, it may work for people whose religion is attending worship for two hours a week. it does not work for people whose religious beliefs govern all aspects of their lives. To follow your argument, a doctor hired in a public hospital would be obligated to perfom abortions even if this goes against hiséher beliefs.
  8. At least you got something new besides the usal misinterpretation and bigoted raving. Now, I am nobody.
  9. And how relevant is it? We are talking about the rights of Canadians, anyway, not people from France. About as relevant as the number of English-speaking Montrealers able or unable to speak French. Which is absolutely irrelevant in regards to the rights they should enjoy as Canadians. They, like any Canadian, are the sole judges, individually, of which Canadian language they will use when dealing with their government. You must be Albertan, I am not. So you sure can point out the piece of Alberta legislation that exempt French-speaking Albertans from paying taxes? Since according to you they are not taxpayers. Besides, the court decision is not about translating documents. It is about the clearly guaranteed rights of any Canadian to a court hearing in either English or French, A right also enjoyed by English-speaking Quebecers, and that even the Quebec government cannot take away. BTW, OF course I still want parking tickers in Montreal to be in English and French. ¸It does neither of it, but it surely part of my Canadian identity. I am Canadian after all, and with it comes my rights as a Canadian. You can`t deal with it, you problem, not mine. I would call a bigot and more anyone posting half of the m*nure about English-speaking Canadians that Leafless uses against non-English-speaking Canadians.
  10. And on this forum, as your posting just demonstrated.
  11. And to bad if an innocent Canadian citizen's name is not cleared. But I forget, he's not English-speaking enough.
  12. Which to anyone not blinded by your hatred means in fact... another strike for equality. One more of those charter rights you want upheld. Next stop, bilingual tickets in Montreal. For the same reason you want to eradicate all languages other than English... bigotry.
  13. Only in English, of course, right? In other words, only when it suits you. And what is your problem getting my clear opinion about Quebec language laws? As for the problem the Quebec's government has with recognizing Charter rights, it's the same as yours. BTW, you have something new to entertain people with/ Your line that quebec is discriminatory for doing what YOU want to do is getting stale.
  14. Good idea. Because you will never get it.
  15. I'd rather try my university education and 20 year-experience in history related work. Settlers from Quebec and Detroit settled in what is now Windsor in 1749-1750, more than 30 years before the arrival of the Loyalists.
  16. Yep, I am the typo-prone kettle and you are the pot. And if Canada is not good enough for you, feel free to move out. As for my traveling habits: let's see: BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, the US, France, Italy, Greece
  17. And if the talent was exclusively French-speaking, you would complain that it is racism. It is a Canadian celebration.
  18. Do not waste your time, guyser. He is not white, therefore not Canadian enough to some. As for the decision of the American court... I wonder what would happen if the Canadian government did the same thing to American citizens that was done to Maher Arar, a Canadian citizen. but we know, even detaining an American drunk driver without notifying the nearest American consultate would be grounds for calls to nuke Toronto out of the planet. The slippery slope towards moral bankruptcy has just become a bit more slippery.
  19. Typical Leafless... You despise the Charter, except when it suits you.
  20. I thought you would have welcomed the fact one of the 20th century top British entairtainer will bring British culture to Quebec City. Must be the fact he will not impose it that irks you.
  21. Catholics are NOT a majority of Canadians. I should know, I am one.
  22. After this fine piece of m*anure, you are not in much of a position to criticise anyone. At least, you have the honesty to admit you believe in oppressing people. Like it or not, Canada IS a whole country, not a barroom brawl, and if you do not like it or the fact we are now in 2008, you are welcome to leave.
  23. You mean there is a way you will learn?
  24. Both the English and French are present, alive, and used in multiple aspects of life in Montreal... I call that being a de facto bilingual city. And the common language of 80% of Quebec population is French, not that justifies linguistic discrimination, of course. But these are secondary points... There is no truth whatsoever to the hysteric claim by language zealots that the English language is threatened in Ontario. It is not. Not by unecessary sign laws in Russell and other townships (as I said, nothing that could not be done through a good boycott). Not by the entirely justified provincial legislation mandating municipal services in both English and French for the City of Ottawa. Not by any piece of federal legislation, not by any piece of federal legislation, not by any of the undemocratic and discriminatory Quebec language laws, which do not apply in Ontario after all. The only ones making the ridiculous statement that English is threatened in Ontario are those who would dictate that only English is to be used in public... or even private. Their discriminatory philosophy is clear. And BTW, leafless... My doctor asks that you stop saying that I hate English-speaking Canadians. He is afraid too much laughing might be bad for me
  25. Wanted the quote fron you calling English-speaking Canadians a minority... you have it. And now to my mistake.. Quebec is a Canadian PROVINCE
