  1. Better to depersonalize people through slavery, right?
  2. From the compact Oxford Dictionary:
  3. Thank you for telling us that. I could have been fooled.
  4. There must be two Iraq and two sets of occupied territories then, because in the Iraq I know the U.S. broke international law the moment it started the war, and the construction of Isreali settlements in the occupied teritories is a clear violation of international law.
  5. It is well know (by those who get it, and I don't have an opinion at this point on whether or not you get it), that I am no fan of Quebec's language laws, but its framers had the example of a few generations of violation of the rights of French-speaking Canadians to rely on. And most of those who are clamouring that "what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander" would still clamour for the return to those "good old days" when the Frenchies were at the back of the bus, even if the Quebec Government saw the light this very second (not that I have reason to believer you are one of those people).
  6. You are the one who seems to miss one thing, which is not whether or not Obama is soft an Islamism... a matter of opinion that I choose not to debate. The thing is there are people, including some on this thread (and I am not talking about), who are propagating.buying into the debunked drivel that Obama is a secret Muslim. Don't claim that I don't know about apples when I comment on rotten oranges, will you?
  7. You will never get it. Whatever. Oh surprise, a new idea.... A new geography: Amos, Amqui, Sherbrooke, Rimouski, Saguenay, Sainte-Marie, Sept-Iles are not in North America. I know who speaks what. I also know the issue is who is allowed to speak what and when. Only those who don't get it miss THAT fact. People who get it also know it's not the only Canadian language, for VERY GOOD REASON.
  8. You already give them each and every time you attack Quebec's language laws. Not my fault if you are so clueless that you cannot see that you propose the same thing.
  9. Now now, your opinion may be twisted, but communist?
  10. I forget... all we Frenchies all have the same opinion. whatever.
  11. So now, Aboriginals just make sounds, like crows. Must assume that they are not people, like the crow. Whatever.
  12. Thanks for demonstrating once again your limited vworld view, in which there are no rights other than what the guys with the bigger fist or the bigger posse decide. With that and your annoyance that the Frenchies dare standing up for their rights (and we both know Quebec's langauge laws is not what I am talking about), you would have been treated like a kindred spirit by all those democrats in white robes in 1960 Mississippi. As for your insistance that I support people by desagreeing with... whatever.
  13. I'ts because I already know it that I consider those laws to be pile of m*nure. Let's not forget, YOU want laws that would basically prohibit commerce in any language except one. And I stronly suspect that, while Quebec's laws limit access to English school, you would like a ban on non-English schools. What you promote is even worse than those laws, and we both know it. And I am still waiting for proof the federal government has used the notwithstanding clause.
  14. That's a new Charter you are writing? Didn't find anything like that in the Constitution. But that's not the first time you don't get what's in it. Your policies and those of the Quebec Government (aka racist policies) are not bilingual. And yours are a threat to the rights of Canadians, but not to the English language. Sorry to burst your bubble... It's not because you think that of about every language on the planet rhat other people think the same of English. If you got it, you'd know I don't. A good way to describe the way French-speaking Canadians outside Quebec were denied their rights in times past. And bang on on the well-known attempts to destroy Aboriginal cultures and their Canadian languages. Yeah right, the Natives were never forced to attend residential schools, and the Frenchies were begging for their schools to be closed. FACT is... English is spoken by more Canadian languages than the other Canadian languages.
  15. Err.. actually, it's the contrary; he would argue it's of French origin even if it was full of word taken from Abenaquis. On a most serious note, you were wise. I should have just said whatever the moment he invoked the Bible.
  16. I will confess that right now I believe I could have done better than feeding the beast by first insisting on the facts and then mocking certain ideas.
  17. In case you didn't notice, I was mocking your ideas. Sorry to everyone else for what could be justifiably be considered a form of trolling on my behalf, but the temptation was too great.
  18. It is not. As clearly indicated in the Constitution, the Federal PARLIAMENT can invoke the notwithstanding clause to shield FEDERAL laws, while the provincial LEGISLATURE can invoke it to shield PROVINCIAL laws. Not the governments. Here's a document from the Parliamentary library that contains FACTS (something you know nothing about) that are plainly evident: - the Quebec legislature invoked the clause on all provincial laws between 1982 and 1985, and has invoked it occasionnally since. On lnaguage issue, the one major case since 1985 was its invocation of the clause in 1988 to prohibit languages other than French on commercial signs (keep that in mind, the Ontario legislature would have to invoke the clause to prohibit languages other than English); when they decided in 1993 that mandating predominance of the French language was enough m*nure, they didn't invoke the clause. - there has been three documented cases (by 2005) of the clause being invoked by other provincial legislatures - there is NO documented case of the clause being invoked by the federal Parliament. Once again, you do not have a clue what you're talking about. If you have any EVIDENCE contradicting the FACTS, please show it. You won't, because you can't.
  19. Thanks for admitting it. I forgot, to you freedom to learn a languages maens that people are denied the right to choose which of the languages of their country. Don't worry. Everyone knows you are motivated by ignorance and bigotry. Thanks for proving that I am right when I describe your little pet prejudiced project. Apparent to you only of course. But YOUR pre-conceived hate-based opinions are apparent. Providing services is... providing services. Duh. And I have heard some people argue that English words on signs or pronounced in government offices are "linguistically destroying" the French language in Quebec. I believe that opinion is idiotic. Guess what I think of yours? It means there are more Francophones than Anglophones in Quebec. Period. And the facts that Anglophones are a majority in Ontario means there are more Anglophones than Frencophones in Ontario. Period. A mathematical observation serves as an excuse for discriminating and violating peoples' rights in your mind (when it suits you) and in the mind of the proponents of Quebec's language laws. It doesn't in mine.
  20. You are the one who denies the fact that, because the word "kanata" was transcribed in French, it's not an Aboriginal word. "kanata' is a French word, deal with it.
  21. who are not Canadians, we know that Go ask some Franco-Manitobans old enough to remember how good of a deal that had when they were forbidden to learn or speak their own language at school, speak it in government service centres, or in the provincial legislature in violation of the terms under which the Province joined Confederation. You know I am no fan at all of Quebec language laws, but in terms of their philosophy and intent they were inspired... Since the Frenchies are not Canadians, why are you surprised it's not enough? Interesting... I happen to think the "we are the majority we can do what ever we want" was more fitted to the Mississippi of the early 1960's. Not all English-speaking Manitobans thought that when Franco-Manitobans started using the courts to reclaim the rights that have been illegally taken from them. But hey, if you think otherwise, good for you.
  22. You thief... you stole that sentence from a Qquebec stand-up comic. Actually, yes, Quebec stand-up comic Yvon Deschamps started using that line in his routines almost 20 years ago.
  23. Mark the day, you got something right for once. On the other hand, not surprisingly, you don't have a clue why I wrote that particular posting.
  24. Careful when you deny the truth as I explained it yesterday night and rely on statements from weasel government that steal words from their French owners.
