UN independent panel rules Israel blockade of Gaza illegal
Bob replied to bud's topic in The Rest of the World
Nobody is surprised that you, a person who is totally comfortable living in a Canada that entirely Muslim, would also be totally comfortable living in a world that is completely Muslim. You're a poster child for just how far extreme political correctness can go. Nothing surprises me, anymore. -
But it's not that simple, it's just ANOTHER cost on top of so many others in so many parts of our lives. From fuel to booze to licensing your pets. How about the fact that this document costs $225 to produce? How does that make any sense, whatsoever? I can buy a used laptop for that. It reminds me of the cellular companies selling SIM cards for $25, when they cost perhaps fifty cents to produce - but at least the cellular company is making a profit! The government just doesn't care enough to procure anything for a normal price.

Do you think that was the first post of yours I've ever read? If my description of your motivation for posting that detail (of Iran having a designated Jewish component to its government and giving some independence to the Jewish community) is wrong, feel free to correct me. Why did you mention that detail?
-
Yes of course, let's use Mussolini's words rather than a basic analysis of what actually happened. And while we're at it, let's define communism in accordance with the proclamations of Lenin and Stalin.
-
Yeah.... just another example of why people like you should talk less about this subject and pay more attention. This question reveals your massive ignorance of Israel.
-
It's funny how naive leftists like you love to mention that detail as if it means anything, and as if hundreds of thousands of Jews weren't expelled from Iran. Your ideological antecedents were doing the same thing back in the days of Reagan and the Soviet Union, using communist state documents as "proof" that the Soviet Union indeed protected the freedoms and liberties of all its people, and therefore didn't deserve the label of "evil empire". The Soviet Union, at face value, claimed to protect all minority identities, and even had a department of Jewish affairs, staffed by Jews... who worked tirelessly to destroy Jewish culture. But for you, that was proof that Jewish rights were protected in the glorious Soviet Union. You are, literally, the useful idiot leftist who swallows the games of our enemies as they lie to us with every breath they take. Here's the same kinda stupidity from a Harvard Ph.D, imploring us to rethink our designation of Hezbollah as a terrorist and anti-Semitic organization. After all, if Hezbollah is donating money towards the reconstruction of a synagogue in Beirut (after virtually all the Jewish people had already been expelled from Lebanon), how can this organization be anything other than wholesome? "Food for thought". <vomits>

Just another tax grab masquerading as something it isn't, because it's for "security" purposes. It's funny how self-described "conservatives" justify wasteful expenditures, revealing themselves to be just like the leftists. Want security during travel? Start profiling. Is the traveler's name Muhammad bin Abdul or Fatima Amizan (or something else Arabic/Islamic)? Check him. Check her. Problem solved, and money saved while we stop wasting time searching Jean LaFrancois, Bill Johnson, or Vladimir Romanovsky in order satisfy our quote of political correctness.

I think the fear campaign is effective among certain groups of people because of decades of social indoctrination via media and schools. Canadian political culture is to the hard left, and many of these fools respond positively to the usual rhetoric against the evils of conservatism... When the CPC is barely conservative, yet described as "far-right" or "right-wing" (complete with menacing ads of Harper's "secret agenda"), you know you've got a problem with the country's political culture.
-
See? It tells you how effective the propagandists are in redefining terms. Unfortunately, many people think Zionism is some sort of conspiratorial movement for global dominance, or something seamy and evil. Zionism is simple, in a way, it's as you've said - supporting statehood for the Jewish people in our land.
-
I think you're wasting your time, concepts such as nationalism and independence/sovereignty are beyond wyly's comprehension. He certainly doesn't know what Zionism is, and clearly has no intention of educating himself.
-
Bonam is exactly right. Just like on most university campuses in the USA, anti-Israel/anti-Semitic rhetoric is a staple of our campus scene. It's disgusting and it's a testament to the pronounced left-wing indoctrination of youth in universities where "intellectuals" like Chomsky and Zinn are lionized.

Just copy-and-paste any passage(s) from his post and do a Google search, it's 100% plagiarism. It's unworthy of your response.

Rick's entire post was plagiarized from other websites, word for word. Pathetic, and unworthy of response.

Live the healthiest lifestyle imaginable, and you'll still have reasonable odds of acquiring a dread disease. This fantasy of being able to live healthfully and have a 99%+ chance of staying healthy until death is just a fantasy you cling to because you're still young and perhaps haven't yet (knock on wood) been afflicted with a chronic condition. You're greatly overstating an individual's ability to reduce the likelihood of falling ill through lifestyle choices.

Very anti populist move by the Harper Government
Bob replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Without qualification, those numbers aren't too meaningful are they? Most Jewish people support the creation of a "Palestinian" state, as well, but within certain conditions. I would also support a "Palestinian" state under the right circumstances, but those circumstances will never come to be, so why even waste time entertaining such a fantasy? Most importantly, considering the massive ignorance of 99%+ of Westerners about the Israeli-Arab conflict, and how this conflict has no relevance to their lives whatsoever, why does it matter *what* Canadians or other Westerners think anyways? America provides aid to Israel, so I can understand their concern on a certain level, but Canadians and other posters in this forum speaking of how "tired" they are with this problems as if they're somehow affected by it? Talk about absurd. -

Jacee, although I typically have no problem discussing issues with people who know far less about the history of this region as well as how contemporary politics operate today, when it comes to someone like yourself who is so far out in left field and committed to lies and misrepresentations in order to construct a false narrative predicated on a one-dimensional view of all world events (you being a communist who hates all things privately owned, as well as all the other stupid baggage that comes with such a worldview)... there's really no point, is there? I mean, you literally make up percentages on the fly. It's hilarious, really. -

His 70% number is a lie with no support. Moreover, "settlement construction" is not qualified, so it necessarily includes construction in areas like Jerusalem and the surrounding neighbourhoods. OF COURSE Israelis support such developments, as they are mandatory to the basic operations of the capital city. Did anyone else notice how this guy just compared settlement development to murder as if they're somehow two sides of a coin? -

I don't understand your post, but my position is clear - people should be free to conduct their private businesses as they wish. If a Shawarma joint in Ottawa or Montreal refuses to serve me because I am Jewish, they should be permitted to do so. The government should not be permitted to force a private business to go against its own wishes. -
I take it the same way, but that's what I've come to expect from bud.
-
You're right. But what you're trying to imply is that somehow my being Jewish forces me to reflexively support Israel out of ignorance, rather than the reality - my upbringing and heritage connects me to these events and has compelled me to learn a lot about the relevant history and current developments, as well as move to Israel. In other words, who I am has played a huge role in making me infinitely more informed about these issues than you. You were correct at face value, but certainly wrong with your stupid (and somewhat prejudiced) insinuation.

Bob replied to Speedy von Vloppen's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am not condoning such racist practises, but I am stating that people should have the right to conduct themselves as they wish. If I am denied legal services from some lawyer who hates me because I am Jewish, does it make any sense at all for me to complain and FORCE him or her to serve me? Give me a break. I want nothing to do with such people, and I'd rather they reveal themselves for who they are than have the government try and force them to pretend to be ordinary. -
Like many others on this board, you seem to lack any sense of humour. Isn't it obvious that my self-description is a mocking of how most of leftist detractors describe me?

But when Canada sends a Canadian to the USA to get treatment that isn't available in Canada, or isn't available on time in Canada, the taxpayer picks up the tab and pays the American costs. How does that lower Canadian expenditures on healthcare? If anything, it increases our costs.
-
Sex change operations should absolutely not be covered by the taxpayer. We shouldn't be accommodating people with such sick desires. If they need help, they can see a psychiatrist or psychologist.
-
Your entire post is all wrong. First of all, American Woman explicitly stated that she was listing ONE of the reasons why the per capita expenditures towards healthcare are so much higher in the USA than in Canada. And the USA spend about twice as much as we do, per capita, on healthcare. Not 20% more.
