  1. As long as torybastards can't respect voters enough to see us as other than rubes sucked in by the Liberals, they will never get around to making the party into what it needs to be to present a real challenge to the Liberals. Torybastard election strategy seems to follow this script: Torybastard 1: Why did they vote Liberal? Torybastard 2: Only one possible reason -- they're stupid. Torybastard 3: Well, what should we do about that? Torybastards 1 2 and 3 together: Try to trick them!
  2. Maybe it is or not. I'm saying that the policy of raising the federal profilein Quebec provided the oportunity for these activities in the ad industry. Not just any, certainly. You won't catch me defending Chretien. But these corruptions are so "small town cheap". It suggests a circle of corrupt cronies profitteering in their back yards, not a nation-wide criminal network.
  3. Challenge? You mean: Already done, in effect. Taxation is a manifesation of the social contract. In societies with a clearly consensual social contract (such as Canada) taxation iswhat participants pay to support the shared objectives of their society.
  4. Targets of opportunity. Why did big corporate meltdowns occur in energy and telecom recently? Opportunity.
  5. Well the Sponsorship thing was the first thing on the list of Indepth stories right beside the headlines. And Newsworld rebroadcast all of the taped Breault testimony and the new stuff for practically all day yesterday.
  6. I think the evidence so far is clear that it was a few individuals with important positions in the federal Liberal party in Quebec, working with a few highly placed individuals in Jean Chretien's administration.
  7. What about it? It is just one more of a litany of examples of how the CBC is devoid of any journalist ethics. I don't understand. What was wrong?
  8. Blah blah blah. You're attempts to tar the whole party with this stuff will backfire eventually.
  9. Ridiculous. Duplessis. Explain Sweal. Tell me about a more corrupt government in Canada. Duplessis took the cake. Google him.
  10. As concerns my 'assumption', a definition of democracy is: Literally, the term means power of the people (combining the Greek words demos, meaning "the people," and kratien, meaning "to rule"). 'Nuff said? Not in the least. To reply to a serious issue with a flippant reference to a single dictionary definition doesn't quite cut it.
  11. Exactly. You can't blame a whole group of people for the ill-conduct of a few. That would be wrong.
  12. Actually the finance ministers bears no more responsibility in this matter than most other cabinet members. Once the budget is set, the finance minister is not part of how it gets carried out. That's Treasury Board and the individual departments.
  13. Could it be called "Women Progressive Party", women are fair, transparent, and accountable for all their decisions. And here, I thought you were a woman RB.
  14. And what Crystal Ball tells you all this, may I ask?
  15. Splitting the heath care system into public and private systems would raise costs in the public system by creating resource competition: e.g. both systems would need to bid for the same doctors. Also, if you think of health care as an insurance/risk sharing thing, then keeping it all in one pool should be the least expensive option, actuarially speaking.
  16. I thought the point of this thread was what it would take to make the CPC electable. Do you honestly think tories do? By telling them they have no morals? Like the Liberal Party has been doing electorally over the last 75 years.
