  1. No, the CEO's are blameless, which is BC's point. The moral imperative that 'greed is good' is the underlying issue.
  2. That is the point, isn't it? He makes his point about it and then gives a false illustration using Switzerland as the example. And if it weren't for all those violent riots the Swiss have from time to time, he might have a point. The second point is the sheer level of gullibility of the people espousing this view, at least from the perspective of the article. I cringe when I think of people swallowing this line of garbage and then repeating it like some sort of insight. I mean Charles Adler didn't even do some basic fact-checking!
  3. No, but you are missing the larger picture. It is easy to simply parrot the ideological refrain and leave it at that - and two can play that partisan game at any time. There is no discussion or compromise by the very nature of that argument, only force. Nevertheless I had a "riot" with Thorn by employing a "mob" of smileys and his tactic was to retreat like a cop in Tottenham.
  4. Exactly. Therefore people who lack an xBox and bicycle, should take the opportunity to live their lives they way they think they should and that means when riots happen, looting is morally OK. Especially if you can get away with it. It's a bit of a problematic philosophy, but illustrative nonetheless.
  5. I am really not sure what the beef is, 2 years ago... I believe Bratton - or his methods - have been successfully applied in Toronto; I recall him being consulted over the gang problem in Toronto and the change in methods has been somewhat (?) effective? The beef might be in the nature of the UK riots though - were they led by well-known gangs. If they weren't, how effective would his methods be?
  6. Straw man. Ad hominem. Personal attack. New to the internet aren't you bubble boy?
  7. Do you mean something like this: SF transit agency’s cell phone shutdown: Shielding commuters or hints of Orwell?
  8. No, I am referring to gun deaths. So my original premise stands: Idiot gun owners are the problem, not the solution.
  9. Those who do the most shootings in Toronto are idiot gun owners. But not in Canada, otherwise you would be condemning yourself right?
  10. Another cranky old man who learned to use the Internet last week. Talking about feelings of entitlement. LOFL!
  11. That much is obvious.
  12. But here you are, advcocating for it to be "necessary" all the time. LOFL! No, people with more than half a brain are smarter than that. So you have obvioulsy characterized yourself. Yeah, but all the rest - who don't get killed - tend to do worse things. Syrians for example.
  13. Guns don't kill people, only idiot gun owners do. And criminals. Same thing.
  14. “Hatred is the coward's revenge for being intimidated.” - George Bernard Shaw
  15. Really? Then why don't the police and army of the various nations simply walk in, and start shooting? Why hasn't that been the response over the past generation or so? Oh wait, it's because of liberalism. Who cares if it is a revolution or not? Seriously, just the events of the past week ought to give you a big clue. Do you have any idea of the level of damage an escalating situation can cause? Any clue whatsoever? No it would likely be 'fuck you' as they kicked in yet another window, burned down yet another building and allowed more people to be injured and die.
  16. You mean like Syria? All those ammoral, murderous mobs being fired on and they keep coming back for more.
  17. You appear to live in a fantasy land where human behaviour is based on your own bubble world rules, which has no similarity to reality. Some regoup and dig in. A scenario that never likely occurred to you, but often occurs to governments. In all parts of the world. Or are you deficient in understanding your current events? And yet, every year more riots, all over the world despite the awesome powers levelled against them by governments. Man, you are without a clue aren't you? In the face of known history I mean.
  18. 'Truth hurts doesn't it?
  19. Sorry bubble boy, but your attempts to de-humanize people so they fit your small-minded ideology is not only pathetic, but a touch sociopathic too. The only description you have given is how low a grade your insights really are.
  20. Or when the police shit their pants because they are overrun. Or when the government says 'no shooting' because it will make make things worse and risk escalation. Or when the police fire and the mod suddenly becomes armed themselves... Mobs operate on a moral stucture as dictated by the controlling cadre. Always have, always will. Because that sense of morality doesn't match yours, doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But the rioters in England have come up with something complex, which you fail to comprehend. That is no surprise.
  21. Well if its coming from you it can certainly be described as cowardly bullshit...
  22. Oh but it is completely relevant to the topic on hand, you're just too fearful and scared to come out of your bubble into the real world to gain any sort of meaningful understanding of those events. You are too busy de-humanizing people so they fit into your neat, orderly, little bubble world. Mobs pop bubbles. Haven't you heard?
  23. Claiming to have "empathy and sympathy for people" as an anonymous user on the Internet. Yeah right. Show me all the receipts for all the money you have donated to the victims so far. Talk is cheaper eh? LOFL! Another indignant phoney without a clue is more like it.
  24. I think once you get past your navel gazing, you will see that shooting rioters and looters on sight never has maintained public order for any great degree of time. It doesn't work. Mobs don't care, they don't operate on the same moral scale as you do. How many riots does it take to convince you? And you have a disturbing amount of nonsense bouncing inside your skull because you lack the ability to understand complex social interactions. Stick to the status quo bubble boy. It's nice and safe in there innit?
  25. Oh, please... If the mob is on your street asking you to join or have your house burned down, chances are you'd join and do what you were told. But I am betting you'd rather simply fantasize about such things though.
