That's right, how could I forget? He thinks women should stay home and knit; if they don't he calls them dogs. Nice guy. He does communicate his true thoughts well tho don't you think?

Stephen Harper Greets the Other Amigos Wearing Khakis
Fortunata replied to Higgly's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Higgly, don't call Steve a big fat slob. He is overweight and under exercised. He has a chef who could prepare him delicious, nutritious, low-cal, low-fat meals. He could have a treadmill in his office so while he is on the phone or reading reports or writing to his ministers to tell them how they must think and run their departments he could be on the treadmill working off some of the bulges. There is absolutely no excuse for the 2nd highest person on our totem pole to be so self-unrespecting as to be in his condition. Maybe he should get rid of his stylist/psychick (who obviously didn't do her job at the summit) and hire a personal trainer instead. -
Stockwell Day believes the police: the infiltrators did not try to incite violence and the RCMP did not know that the QPP placed undercover persons among the demonstrators. There will not be a public enquiry. Wherever Steve goes crowds get cleared, whether the crowds be media or demonstrators. Seems kinda funny. Sad really.

I remember a communication from Peter MacKay that wen't something like, I won't merge the Progressive Conservative Party with Reform/Alliance. It's really hard to believe anything that comes out of his mouth when he is already a known liar.

dobby? dobby? Why would you be so petty and mean-spirited to call him that? Did he invite you to call him that? His mother doesn't want anyone to shorten his name to dobby. -

Using the name Steve is not petty nor mean spirited. It's short for "I don't trust this guy and how the hell did he ever get to be PM". Now Steve's actions are mean spirited and petty. Even the press, including Global National, who are usually pro-Steve, have commented on it at various times. Look MB, I know he's your guy and your sun rises and sets with the man, but honestly ... he's just not that great. Sorry to burst your bubble. -

Steve Harper has shown himself to be very petty and very mean spirited. It is embarrassing. -
Whoa hold on there ... not nastiness and not lies. Calling a person out on a mistruth is not nastiness no matter how you think it might pull in the sympathy (poor misunderstood jbg). Nowhere in my posts did I say you did not have the "right" to attend a CPC convention as you accused me of. It's just like I said, I questioned why you did, why you wanted to and remarked (again, because you seem to not be able to comprehend) that it was strange. There, that should be the end of it. You lied because you thought no-one would call you on it. Now, I am asking you very politely not to continue this as you have been caught out. There is a reason you are the only person on my ignore list.

LOL, somehow dowdy isn't the word that would come to mind, not even homely like the cowboy hat picture. Damned hilarious, definitely disgusting with all that paunch. But, in reality, if he can't kiss his kids goodbye in public he sure couldn't lose a shirt.

Yes but there is something wrong in looking dowdy especially when it is the "new" government leader. You mean it wasn't just Paul Martin? Fancy that now. -
QUOTE(jbg @ Aug 22 2007, 07:24 AM) * Not true. You questioned my right to attend hospitality suites at the CPC convention. That's a lie. Go back and I'm sure you'll find I questioned why you did, why you wanted to attend a CPC convention especially since you are a self-professed liberal. I found it strange then and would still now if I hadn't figured you out. See above.

Dowdy is my word You mean he flip-flopped? -
Do people actually have time to research every product they use, every medical complaint they may have as has been suggested by doctors themselves, etc. - to research every little thing in every little facet of life? When do we get to trust anyone making or doing anything to be upfront, honest and principled? False and misleading advertising is the name of the game, is allowed by governments, get people to buy the product which, since governments let it be sold, we trust its safety and whammo, not safe, not healthy, not labelled, carcinogens and other substances omitted from the labels, and that's ok? And we should do research on each and every thing? It's all the consumer's fault? /rant off Ok, that being said, I buy no foodstuffs from countries that I don't know and can't find out satisfactorily the level of their safety standards. It appears that we should only buy blankets, baby clothes etc. from countries that don't allow formaldehyde to be used (more research), that's if you can even find the information. Which companies/manufacturers/producers can you trust to put the consumer before the profit?

Oh yes, the innocent approach. It must be the attack at all costs because it couldn't be that he actually looked dowdy. Oh my no. Steve Harper ran under that name in an election. If it's good enough to use it himself surely it is good enough for others to use it. -
I find Made in Canada clothes in the high end range without problem. It is those little t-shirts and yoga pants, etc. that usually have a made in someotherwhere sticker on them. Sneakers, sandals, that sort of thing. But hey, if I am in the market for a new picket fence it's good to know that I can get a home grown one instead of one that the raw trees from Canada were shipped overseas to another country to make into pickets and send back for me to pay double the price.

If you can't refute the message attack the messenger hey? Nice... and so predictable. The clothes were fine, but not suited to him. Anyone with any extra weight should never wear tapered pants for example. It accentuates the heavy middle area. Also anyone with extra weight should not wear shirts without structure. It makes them look heavier. The answer for him would be (and hey! I'm not even paid for this), better quality fabrics with drape, straight trousers that are not long enough to bunch up around his feet which causes him to look even shorter and wider, shirts customized to draw the eye from the midsection. I think he should fire his stylist/psychick. -
I don't like answering him but since you asked, again (as if it is any of your business): I don't deny anyone the right to post on any boards they want. The more the merrier. What I take umbrage of is the fact he comes on a Canadian board and tells Canadians they should use American spelling, talk about arrogance. We should be able to spell like we spell without being told it's "not the right way." He couches his "superiority complex" by simpering little posts and informations about how bad Canadians are and when taken to task about it he throws up his hands and says oh I am just a poor innocent little foreigner trying to understand how it is. He's a phony and a weasel in my opinion and I'd rather have a wisdom tooth pulled than read his insincere bullshit. How's that for an answer? Ah .. no. Good try though.

Apparently if a product is 30% Canadian content or production it can be labelled a product of Canada (I think 30%; I saw it on CBC or CTV). The material can come from overseas and processed or packaged here or the material can come from Canada and processed and/or packaged elsewhere; it just needs the 30%. I, too, would like to know where the raw materials, processing and packaging come from. This weekend, while shopping, I came across actual "Made in Canada" clothing. Not product of, not imported for ... it's been awhile since I've seen that. Needless to say I bought it.

Hey, he pays good taxpayer money to a stylist to make him look nice. She didn't make him look nice next to the two Presidents. Sorry, but that's the truth of it. Also the truth is is that he is getting fat. He needs exercise and a proper diet. That's not mean spirited nor petty, just the truth. -
You discount the mess to both infrastructure and livelihood that has been made by the American invasion? Are you saying that all the turmoil and chaos, loss of infrastructure, livelilhoods, life and limb are all the consequences of GWI and the UN sanctions? Are you saying that since USA invaded things are better for citizens?

See you write off legitimate concerns with flippancy and your scary, scary, scary mantra but those concerns are keeping your Cons in minority territory. You spout history and yet, when given history, you go hmmm, the two-tier health care booger man. Well that's the history; you try to discount it but you can't change it.
-
How far back do we go for history? Do we go back to the NCC days wherein the very same person as is now our PM thought Health Care should be dismantled for a private system? To where environmental issues were non issues? The firewall? His stance on staying out of Iraq? You know all of his flip flopping ... that's his history. His record is somewhat different but when will he get back to his real ideas on these issues. It is a legitimate concern and saying it is trying to instill fear is ignoring the history.

Global national has something on this today, to to their website and watch Lost in Translation. And yes, Bush_Cheney, Saddam and sons were horrid but is what Iraqi's have now better? Most people could walk safely on the streets during Saddam but I doubt very much too many people feel safe even in their homes today. When you set out to deliberately break something you should have been prepared in advance to fix it better than it was.

Did Steve fire the stylist psychick? If not she sure did not earn her money today. He looked positively dowdy next to the others. Plus it looks like he should at least start walking to MacDonalds to burn some of those calories.
