  1. Try reading a book one day. Re: AQ read Steve Coll's Ghost Wars. Bill Casey who was the head of the CIA was a Catholic Knight of Malta who dreamed of uniting Christian and Muslim fundamentalists in a global crusade against the atheistic commies. In order to fulfill this vision he promoted and heavily armed fundamentalist Islamists on overseas jihad against the Soviets. Through this movement Al Qaeda came to Afghanistan and Bin Laden gained his messianic reputation amongst Islamic fanatics. Re: ISIS. ISIS came about in Iraq as a direct result of the US invasion and occupation of that country. When NATO armed the Syrian opposition it destabilized Syria, ISIS taking advantage of the situation flooded into Syria and greatly expanded. Then when they took Mosul they captured whole divisions of US made weaponry turning themselves into a terrorist caliphate covering much of the Middle East. The Neoconservatives are monsters.
  2. Pretty obvious isn't it? The Conservatives were among those who sought to destroy the government of the country. Previously Italy paid the Libyan government to keep immigrants from coming over in boats. Once the government was gone and the country was into anarchy and destruction refugees came fleeing over in droves. Same situation in Iraq/Syria, which were also torn apart by the neocons.
  3. Why does greed and self interest always reach the top of the political agenda? No wonder these guys keep going to trial.
  4. A good article on the religious right in Canada and in the Harper government: http://www.thetyee.ca/Opinion/2015/09/14/Covert-Evangelism-Stephen-Harper/
  5. First 69 science isn't a religion. Religion is religion and religious are more inclined to vote conservative or join ISIS. 2nd again there is a process called warrants. They are there to ensure justice and to protect the public from abuse of power.
  6. The existence of ISIS and Al Qaeda are both owed to conservative neoconservative policies. And this might surprise you but Neville Chamberlain was a conservative. It's amusing to watch you descend into full blown hysterics though.
  7. That's it it's all about money. Fear is just a way to make money and gain power. As the conservative political theorist Machiavelli wrote: If one can't be loved it is better to be feared.
  8. Am I afraid of it? I think it's a whopping waste of money and a violation of privacy all so some cowardly conservatives can sleep better at night. Again if you and your ilk want to pay for your paranoia scared surveillance state that's fine with me so long as you are footing the bill for it and not the actual brave and realistic people in the country. Would you like me to buy you some night lights too with that? It's the least I can do and would be a lot less expensive.
  9. If you don't want immigrants pouring in (I agree on population grounds although disagree on many of your reasons) then you better ditch the conservative party as their foreign policies have been creating boat loads of them (e.g. Libya).
  10. They are far more likely to be struck by lightning. If they are really afraid of Islamic extremism then they should have just left the secular dictators in place in the Middle East as those were keeping them under wraps. Actually I think conservatives like Islamic extremism, because they share with the terrorists a love of fear and fear bolsters the support of both groups. That's why time and again the weapons that gets into their hands comes from the west. Also religious fundamentalists are more likely to fill the ranks of conservative parties and terror groups alike. And both conservatives and Islamic fundamentalists praise violence as noble. In fact it seems they rally around and worship violence in various forms.
  11. If you're driving a car you're in a public space. If you're at home you're in a private space. Yes the police can enter your home but only with a warrant through due process. Again I repeat why are conservatives so fearful by nature? Is fear really something to be proud of? To me it's a trait of cowardice, weakness and animal nature. It is utilized and exploited by the usual scoundrels and criminal deviants.
  12. "If a policeman shows up at my door with a search warrant, can i exercise my right to privacy." They required a warrant in such a case and had due process. That's the difference. Why are conservatives so scared by nature?
  13. Suppressing science, selling Canadian companies and resources to foreign countries, pushing free trade agreements left right and center etc. etc.
  14. A lot of refugee applications to process after the neoconservatives tore apart the Middle East.
  15. "He is certainly the least impressed and intimidated by wealth and power that I have ever seen." Why would he? He spends all his time bending over for them.
  16. The right wing authoritarians are hard at work on the keyboards today. So question for you right wing authoritarian dystopian surveillance state proponents: Do you expect me and other Canadians to pay for a massive surveillance apparatus to spy on ourselves like we really want to be a modern stasi state or communist China emulators and shell out massive funds for it? How about all right wing authoritarians in support of a massive surveillance state which eliminates privacy have to pay for it and those who don't want their right to privacy eliminated don't have to pay for it. Seems at least fair doesn't it? Oh I'm guessing you thought we who believe in privacy and civil rights in Canada were going to have to pay for those rights to be violated. Are the right wing authoritarians cowards or what? ToadBrother: Yes as has been mentioned recently in another thread there were predecessors to the neoconservatives going back decades.
  17. "I personally could care less what government agency is monitoring my email, i am more concerned about what internet entity is trying to hack my personal bank info, but here i am on the internet anyway." You'll be happy to know that the NSA recruits hackers in Las Vegas who will have plenty of access to your bank info. Re: Syria and the refugees just accept NATO has destabilized the whole region with it's neoconservative policies and Harper has and continues to play a part in that. The neoconservatives have been totally discredited and belong in psychiatric evaluation not in positions of power.
  18. "I'll take Saddam every damn day of the year over ISIS." OK just don't start whining about all the refugees ISIS creates and sends to Canada.
  19. John have fun with your military compensation fantasy if you wish, but don't expect me and everyone else to pay for it. In case you haven't noticed but Canadian imperialism is already tearing other countries apart e.g. like it did Libya.
  20. If you think the Canadian environment consists solely of my yard you're completely out of touch with Canada.
  21. "Or perhaps quality of life as a function of population density is initially increasing, reaches a maximum, and then decreases. So while Bangladesh may be worse off per capita if its population increases, Canada may benefit from an increase in population." If you don't like Canada because it doesn't have enough people go live in Bangladesh or anywhere else where you prefer the population density. Leave the Canadian environment alone.
  22. So greed. Thanks. The environment is more important than human greed and unsustainable economics. And actually quality of life is better in low density populations. If you disagree go live in India or China and leave at least one country with a low population density for those of us who actually prefer it that way.
  23. We could be invaded by an army of gnomes from outer space. Should we spend all our time and resources preparing for it? Or should we spend those resources intelligently to make this a better country?
  24. We've already caused the greatest mass extinction since the dinosaurs died out.
  25. First the only reason the Canadian conservatives haven't been as Neoconservative as the American govt is due to A. they are hamstrung by an electorate who won't tolerate it, B. don't have enough power. " "Refugees are coming to Europe because they can come to Europe. The war was not instigated by NATO. Nor did NATO destabilize the region, nor can you point to actions they took which did." Then you have been completely ignoring what has been happening over the last 30 years. "The only thing you could arguably complain about on behalf of western interference would be the invasion of Iraq. And if they'd removed Hussein and left you'd have a case. But they stuck around for years, giving the locals every opportunity to build a nation, doing their best to mentor the military and keep the various segments of society from slaughtering each other. It's clear, though, that Iraq is like Yugoslavia. The moment the strong man departed it was going to fall apart. And it wasn't exactly stable even before that, which is why there were sanctions and a no-fly zone."" Right so NATO destablized Iraq by taking out it's government, disbanding it, and disbanding their military under Bremer. Then they Turkey included supported the opposition to Assad which destablized Syria, and with Iraq and Syria destablized led to the rise of ISIS which captured all the US material in Mosul and led to an Islamist caliphate controlling much of the Middle East. Let's not also forget that NATO with a Canadian general in the lead also tore Libya into pieces and many of the boatloads of refugees are coming from there. The Neoconservative movement is too delusional too out of touch with reality and far too dangerous to be allowed to continue this insanity.
