How About Merging NDP and Green?

Socrates himself voted for himself to be executed. They were following the law and Socrates' challenge. There was nothing unfair in the process at all. It was very fair. Socrates in fact said that it was 100% just that he was to be executed, because he had violated in the law that he believed in. Yes imperialism in Democracy and in Republics is a major problem and caused the collapse of Athenian democracy. Your idea of Republic protecting minorities is pie in the sky. "The elites make more contribution to the whole society, it is very fair they have more share of power." B.S. the slave labourers make a far greater contribution to the whole society than the elites. You are just spewing the elite's own propaganda.- 74 replies

In regards to a republic representing the minorities, (as differentiated from elites) of course it doesn't and never did. Republics tend to benefit elites and consolidate their power. Even Plato envisaged this with his concept of the philosopher king, who would be the natural rulers of republics by virtue of their intelligence.- 74 replies

The majority wanted Socrates to get off, few if anyone really wanted him to die. Socrates wanted to die to prove the strength of his philosophical convictions and to gain a sort of immortality in doing so as the Homeric heroes had survived through poetic laudation.- 74 replies

Actually the jury wanted him to get off, but he wanted to die and so challenged them to convict him and kill him, and even then people wanted him to escape but he chose to die instead so as not to violate the law he believed in. Have you read Plato's writings on this?- 74 replies

There's too much stupidity emanating from the political leadership of the USA. To the current political leadership 1984 is an instruction manual.- 74 replies

What makes a country a superpower how much it can rape the environment globally? Sorry I don't want Canada to go that road.- 74 replies

Yeah I prefer diversity of options as well. It represents democracy and the demos the best at least under proportional systems where one ideologically winged party doesn`t get all the vote from one wing.- 74 replies

Indeed, because they weren`t members of the citizenry. Universal Suffrage and the Abolition of Slavery are a very recent phenomena in western representative political systems.- 74 replies

``Democracy includes the meaning of ignoring minority, do you want to be ignored as you become one of minority?`` No it doesn`t, it means ``rule by the citizenry.`` In Ancient Greek Democracy every citizen was included.- 74 replies

If you want a Republic check out the US presidential system (no thanks, I`ll take democracy instead any day. Actual democracy that is and we don`t really have that in Canada right now).- 74 replies

``Because that 5% spread over half a continent is going to make that big a difference.`` Hey although the PCs had more it worked for the Alliance when they absorbed the PCs, which had only been gathering a handful of seats.- 74 replies

Good news. Well if the Bloc don`t throw a wrench into the election I find it difficult to see Trudeau not getting at least a minority.
-
It might have to do with EKOS' land line only policy. e.g. the older voters would be more likely to say that they vote Bloc than young cell phone users.

Well I certainly hope so. The last two EKOS polls had this phenomenon in Quebec: http://www.ekospolitics.com/index.php/2015/10/deadlock-broken-liberals-surging/ http://www.ekospolitics.com/index.php/2015/10/penultimate-check-up-on-election-42/ I don't know if the other pollsters break it down by province vs. the country as a whole. This article shows the Bloc pretty high too: http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/canada-election-2015-quebec-split-michelle-gagnon-1.3272915

Good luck to Nanaimo. That would be awesome if the Greens could gain a number of seats on the island.
-
Yeah I'm from Vic. How about you? Thanks and likewise!
-
"Which ones?" Ekos and I saw another one, but can't remember which one it was though.
-
The Greens could pick up a seat in Thunder Bay too.
-
The current polls have the Bloc neck and neck with the LPC and NDP in Quebec, so you might have to take that into consideration with your seat projection.
-
I hope the greens take every riding on the island. If only hopes were realities. By the way I took the same test that's in your avatar picture and got about the same result.
