I personally feel that the GG granted Harper proroguement in order to deflect 'partisan' accusations. Now when she denies Harpers's request for yet another election, that would likely have the same result as the last two, her ass is covered so to speak. Fiddling and burning continues until the Jan 26th non- confidence vote, then the coallition can get to work dousing the flames and orchastrating a sweeter economic tune.

Now is the time to call an Election!

Perhaps getting his Resume updated would be a good idea. Only problem; can't provide good references. -
The Coalition needs a name

Only because they know they dodged the bullet, the Coallition is re-loading, and the next time will be taking dead aim. -

IMHO I think you are mistaken when you assume that the 'silent majority' are all card carrying conservatives. -

I wonder if after they're given a vote of non-confidence if we'll see yet another name change from the Reformist Alliance? Oh wait< there you go!! A perfect name for our conservative friends who will become the official opposition as of Jan. 26th -

The Liberal Democrats, has a nice ring to it. "And now with the speech from the throne, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Canada....the right honourable Micheal Ignatieff" is it Jan 26th yet? -
Stating facts does not make one sour. For the record, if you have a majority in the house, you have a majority government. Regardless of popular vote. I know these are difficult concepts for conservatives to wrap there heads around, case in point; trying to run rough shod through parliment when holding the minority of the seats. Ask any NDP, BQ, or Green supporter; if they had to choose between a Liberal government or a Reform government, which would they choose? You know the answer. So does Harper. I think its quite clear that a conservative government will never be able to gain a majority in the house again due to our social and economic climate. their ideologies are antiquated and out of touch with the average Canadian, who has excepted that evolution is a fact, not a theory. I'm not whining at all by the way, the only people whining are conservative supporters who don't think its 'fair' that a coallition is willing to work together for the GREATER GOOD. What a concept!!! Jan. 26th can't come quickly enough!

Either way, the conservatives will not be happy about this. I personally believe that a new Liberal leader will only strengthen the coalition's resolve. -
Why would I be upset? Thing about polls is they can be manipulated, especially if an 'uninformed' public is the sample being polled. Once the truth comes out and the conservatives alarmist reterict is brought to light, you won't be happy with the shift in public opinion. You can have your polls, we'll take the majority coallition government in 7 weeks when Harper loses the confidence vote. We'll be there when you get up!

My apologies, I just figured using the 'F' word is easier than typing Religious Extremist Ultra Right Wing Conservative. Won't happen again.
-
Sorry, myself and those who support democracy shouldn't type while chewing up and spitting out minority conservative governments. Same thing happened in the late seventies when Joe Who was the last lame duck PM.
-
Which party was the last to hold a majority government in this country???
-
Wow you caught us and have exposed our "Master Plan" how very fascist of you to point it out with the basis of your argument being void of fact, and full of reterict. I know, why don't you try to subvert the public by saying this is all a Je.... seperatist plot, and that they are the real power in this country and that 'real Germ....Canadians' need to rise up and squash this threat to our way of life. Wait, too late.....
-
When an individual or group of individuals utilizes fascist tactics, they can be construed as 'fascist' Not sure that I've ever heard the NDP call for the elimination of our electoral system or Dictatorial rule, so I can see how you wouldn't use the "c" word when describing them.
-
Not your 'buddy' not a 'boy', but no worries removed the 'quotation marks' . So did you have a good season? Crops good?
-
Clearly this coallition was formed as a direct result and in reaction to, dare I say, FASCIST legislature that Harper and his henchmen were trying to pass. If a Coalition was in place during the previous election we wouldn't even be having this discussion, and Harper wouldn't be PM.

Honesty and speaking the truth are not conservative traits.
-
IF you can't understand what was said then you better pull yoiur head out of you arse and listen to what Conservatives are saying. The polling done in the last couple of days has shown just how out of touch you are with Conservatives. So I'm sorry if your intelligence is getting the way of comprehending what is being said. There fixed it for you. Sorry but, I'm pretty sure if any segmant of society is 'out of touch' its the right wing. 'Out of touch' will soon ='out of power' for the reformist alliance.
-
Firstly i was not the one who initially compared Trudeau jr. to Obama. If you want to throw that reterict around, which party do you think has panadered to, and tried to emulate, the Republican party of the U.S.? IIRC, wasn't it the Liberals who wanted no part of the colonialist invasion of Iraq? Wan't it the coservatives who were gung ho? If we've learned anything as a nation, its that the Liberal party is the party that most effectively defines and differentiates us from our southern neighbors.
-
I'd love to respond to you sir, but I'm not sure exactly what was said. Please clarify. "Me no like Liberal, hyuk hyuk" would suffice.

Again I say, never at this early a point in the session. The only reason Harper closed the doors was to avoid a vote of non-confidence, this is setting a prescedent. Totally correct and not remotely hypocritical. Not only that, but the timing of this proroguement during possibly the worst economic crisis since the great depression, shows the country that Harper is not fit to lead. Instead of addressing the crisis he instead tried to nueter the opposition parties through 'Reformist' legislature. Perhaps this should have been part of his platform during the last election, it wasn't of course. He vowed to work with the opposition in the best interest of Canadians. He did not. He has proven himself to be self serving time and time again, and the house has rightfully lost confidence in his party's ability to govern. The fact that the opposition supported the speech from the throne, was the olive branch that if Harper et al truly wanted to lead should have been grasped. They did not. The coservatives have made their bed.
-
Same players yes, working together to ensure whats best for the majority of Canadians! Short memories will ensure that the extremist right will soon be forgotten.
-
Forming a coallition government is not setting a prescedent. Locking the commons doors 6-7 weeks after a new government takes power is. Harper and his Reform/Alliance lackys ran out of fear for their political lives. Enjoy the paychecks for another 7 weeks Harperites, the times they are a' changin!
