I just doubt that anyone who is the President is truly nice.

Mein Kampf earnings Hitler had earned 1.2m Reichsmarks in 1933 from sales of his book Mein Kampf - "a huge income, when you consider teachers then had annual salaries of 4,800 marks". By 1945 Hitler had made 7.6m Reichsmarks out of Mein Kampf, without paying any tax. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/4105683.stm

It does when its part of a broader plan to enforce standards for workers in private workplaces, by centralized planning. Those standards include all the other things I mentioned, and more. Social insurance programs and benefits for workers, even reduced costs for taking vacations. Hitler was loved by the German people at the very beginning. Not all of them, not foreign born ciizens, liberals or Jews. His book Mein Kampf was more popular than the bible. Because of it he bacame the equvalent to a billionaire today. Winning 35% of the vote in that situation, with several political parties made it impossible to get a majority. That would be one reason why he took over and eliminated them, and shut down the democracy. Groups who opposed him were attacked, but the German people approved f what he was doing, because they were desperate and frustrated by the capitulating weimar republic. Hitler offered a way out of the problem they were in. And thereis ample evidence that his economic system was a huge success. It's no secret that many in Germany (and indeed throughout the whole of Europe) blamed and hated the Jews for their economic problems. Those who did, welcomed the purges. But the reichstag and all that, is not about Hitler's socialist policies, is it

Hitler implemented several innovative socialist policies before the war, many of which are admired and still benefit us in so-called free societies today. These involved reform of the work force, including standardized 40 hour work weeks, guaranteed rest breaks during the day, guaranteed vacation, a minimum wage and unemployment insurance. Also included was national health care and dental care, standardized education and other aspects of social security. This is one of the reasons why Hitler was loved by many of the German people, in the early days. They were not forced to obey a brutal dictator. That part came later, when the governments power became total.

The President of The United States- nice people with whom we might disagree. Now THERE is a laughable joke!

Based on these articles from reputeable sources, I'm afraid it's not possible to vote in your little survey, since the answer is clearly below 95%

Good point. Why bother with opinion? Let us try to find some statistics. "An FBI report has shown that, contrary to popular opinion, only a small minority of terrorist attacks in the United States from 1980 to 2005 were carried out by Islamist extremists."[92] "In 2009, a Europol report also showed that more than 99% of terrorist attacks in Europe over the last three years were, in fact, carried out by non-Muslims."[101] The article also points out that every empire has suffered from terrorism, primarily carried out by groups who feel they are being oppressed by the empire. This makes sense.

I for one do not fall for such obvious ploys as the Yuk Yuk a-Duck club. Anybody can make good jokes if they have a good writer. The idea behind it is to link humour with politics, so that psychologically many people who laugh will identify more with the speaker. "Laugh along with me, I am funny. I am like you." The GWB administration attempted to use humour at times as well. What next, Ed McMahon raucously guffawing in the background? Oh yeah, they've got that already

Car Bomb found in Times Square
Sir Bandelot replied to a topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Yet it appears that it would still have killed people if it went off. Seems peculiar that someone went and set up such a car bomb, using firecrackers and gasoline cans. That doesn't sound like the work of a "professional". Generally one would expect that if someone was going to go this far, attempt to kill innocent people and end up going to prison for a long time, maybe for life, they would devise a more lethal bomb. Sounds like the work of a kook to me. -

It might be, but we don't yet know who was behind this. -
"Emancipation Proclamation"
-
Or any of his hundreds of garrish suits and ties.
-
"American Aid"
-
"U.S. Peacekeeping Force"
-
"Land of the free..."

For the new GG we need someone with a bit more "pizaz". How about Don Cherry! Yeah, I'd like to see him curtsey before the Queen.

Or, "United States"...

Whoa! What happened to you? Did you have an epiphany? This is not the same Argus I've come to know and love...

Not a defence, as though I am the spokesman for the faithful. Belief is whatever it takes to get the job done. And belief is not simply in the mind. Belief can enable people to do things, it is a force. Example, Mohammed Ali had legs.

Nice scope, I think that one is their newest model with the built in camera? Kimmy, even a pair of 10x50 binoculars is a great observing tool. And you can use them in the daytime as well, when hiking etc. or checking on the neighbours...

Whether it's worth it or not is up to you, but if as you say you can get it for almost nothing, what have you got to lose? As long as you understand the limitations of what you're getting. The scope is an achromatic refractor, 80mm objective and 900mm focal length. This is made for high magnification views. You should be able to see the rings of Saturn, equatorial bands on Jupiter and it's 4 Gallilean moons. But with the achromatic lense, you will see what's known as "color fringing", a sort of purple ring that appears around the edges of bright objects. This will appear in any images that you take as well. But there are ways to work around it, such as using color filters. The equatorial mount alone will be useful, even if you eventually don't use the scope. I have the exact same mount in fact. It has slow motion controls which are useful when doing high magnification observing or imaging, to help keep the object in view. You can also add a tracking motor to this mount. Most people start out with an inexpensive scope and then decide if they want to move up to something better, once they know what they're doing. My first scope was a newtonian reflector which I got at a clearance store, and I've had lots of fun with it. Mars was one of the most challenging objects I have tried to image, here is my only (somewhat) successful attempt- http://i890.photobucket.com/albums/ac101/Bandelot/MarsFeb_20_2010b3.jpg
