  1. More to the point I was trying to make... False-alarms up after Times Square plot NEW YORK - Police cleared the streets around Times Square on Friday and called in the bomb squad to dismantle what turned out to be a cooler full of water bottles. Earlier in the day, police were called in to check a suspicious package that turned out to be someone's lunch. More than 600 calls came in since Saturday's attempted car bombing of a busy street near Times Square — about 30 percent higher than normal, police said. ... "It was exciting, but it seemed a little silly, after all — a cooler that somebody left there," said psychiatrist Thor Bergersen, of Newton, Mass., who watched the drama from the eighth floor of the Marriott Marquis hotel. But Times Square vendor Walter "Candyman" Wells said the constant scares aroused more suspicion. "I think they're testing us, whoever is doing this," Wells said Friday, sitting on a stool near his table of T-shirts. "They're playing chess with us right now, but they ain't gonna win." ... New Yorkers who spend every day in Times Square said the recent headlines and bomb scares had made them jumpy, though not enough to switch up their routines.
  2. You were the one who attacked me personally, and incessantly, even when I tried to concede to your view that it's reasonable to be cautious under these circumstances. When people attack me personally, I choose to be more aloof and not engage in their bullshit. So I gave you some stupid replies. You got what you deserve, as far as I'm concerned. So when you're ready to be more polite, and not bitchy about everything, we can continue.
  3. It was over for Britain 60 years ago.
  4. I don't think I agree with that. It's still an emotional issue for men, too. Although I think the the final decision should rest with the woman.
  5. Aww... I think that was supposed to hurt!
  6. Yeah I knew it was a bad move when I wrote it. But I figured, what the heck, I know I'm not getting any, so... Besides, a man should not be afraid to make mistakes, or say things that others might take in the wrong way. Sometimes I just don't have time to explain it. Sometimes I know, it doesn't matter what I say to the other person, or what point of view I take. They are only looking for faults and weaknesses. So I have no problem giving them sonething real easy to understand. It's good for the digestion... Now THAT is funny!
  7. Thanks. Love you too, baby!
  8. Yeah like I give a damn what you think of me! i don't have a problem. I'm enjoying my time here. If you like to get pissed off, thats your thing.
  9. Ok, I guess were not allowed to talk around here. You don't like it
  10. I dunno man, I though he looked pretty cool, with the shades and the ear piece. Kinda like a poster-boy for the Taliban. Even his name, "Shahzad..." LOL
  11. Come on Habs! The odds are against them, but in hockey that doesn't mean they are out for sure. Kinda like my team...
  12. Plus the people on the Bus...
  13. Around here, when a truck breaks down on a bridge we don't go into full alert mode. What really freaked them out is that it smelled like gasoline. Imagine that, from a broken truck! Seriously, I know there's been an attempted attack and so everyone needs to be more vigilant. Perhaps threats have even been made, which the authorities know about and that's why they're reacting this way. Being very careful is better than being lax and allowing an actual attack to take place. But despite that being true, to me this just underlines the very insidious nature of terrorism. They don't even need to be successful in the attack, once they whip the nation into a frenzy of fear. I know I wouldn't want to be the one who has to step off a bus and face a whole squad of cops with guns drawn at me...
  14. Ya, maybe in your country...
  15. Bomb scare aboard Greyhound bus May 6 2010 (AP) ... Police were in contact with people on the bus, but it was unclear why they remained on board for more than two hours before they started to leave. They left the bus one by one -- separated by a couple of minutes each -- and carried no purses or bags. Most held their hands aloft as they passed officers with their weapons drawn. Yeah, we're going to save you from the terrorists. But if you make just one false move...
  16. Aside from this silliness, the question of CO2 and it's effect on plant growth makes me think of two things. - There should be an observeable effect of accelerated growth of plants, worldwide. - The easiest, most cost effective solution to reducing or stabilizing CO2 levels should be to grow lots and lots of trees. Remember the hysteria about cutting down great swaths of rainforest?
  17. That's silly. I doubt even the staunchest Liberal would want to defend this sort of thing. It's completely absurd, and heartless towards the family of the dead kid. You really got to wonder how these judges can sleep well at night. In retrospect, THEY ought to be put in jail!
  18. And on that note: Suspicious truck sparks new NYC terror scare These people are crapping their drawers. Terrorism, indeed.
  19. Actually thought his post was good. Cuts it to the quick- no bullshit.
  20. Doesn't matter if you want to blame Obama or Bush for this. Either way, it's clear where the fault lies...
  21. Thats absurd. All I meant was, it's not always fun being the top dog. I guess you don't get it.
  22. There's a lot of expectations placed on the leader of the pack.
  23. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/On_the_Justice_of_Roosting_Chickens Churchill's remarks about World Trade Center victims became the center of considerable attention and controversy in January 2005 when Hamilton College of Clinton, New York invited him to give a speech. As a result, the speech was cancelled, citing "credible threats of violence". Churchill's "little Eichmanns" drew ferverous condemnation from conservative media pundits, who called for his resignation and deemed him unfit to teach. The University of Colorado Board of Regents publicly apologized for Churchill's writings about the September 11, 2001 attacks. Following this media controversy, Churchill was investigated for academic misconduct, fired, and filed a lawsuit against CU that he won in a jury verdict but that was vacated by the judge in the case. Heheheheh Freedom of speech in Amerikkka
  24. Queen I wouldn't know about, since they inherit it but long ago perhaps, when it was competitive, then yes. Nice people get squashed. My view is, you've got to be a ruthless bastard to begin with if you want to get supreme executive power. I take it back on the Queen- she hoards millions and millions of dollars, she has the power to make a difference but she doesn't do that. She makes sure she keeps her millions, to live in the lap of absurd luxury. Nice people won't do that.
