But it is illegal, so not popular unless you're willing to risk being charged.

Black Panthers blocking voters
Sir Bandelot replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
I don't doubt your claim Mr. Canada. The voter intimidation occured on both sides, but I suspect they were isolated incidents and most people voted without any problems. Theres some immature haters here, with nothing better to do than snipe everyone else. Probably because, their life sucks in other ways, so this is how they get some kind of false sense of superiority. Thats often the case with bullies, who like to point out other peoples defects to deflect attention from their own. I guess you've probably figured that out. As a kid, I could never tolerate bullies, even if it was someone else they were bullying, I felt compelled to do something about it. -

Theres no link. It was on TV. I did search the AC360 website to find a transcript, couldn't find it. Where does it say we have to provide links for everything we post... and why would I want to lie. Tire slashing is not a rare occurence, happened a few times. Edit- I did find a link to an incident- http://www.fayobserver.com/article?id=307949 -

That is not unusual, I recall the last election it was very much the same, with the exception that the "Indian Territory" also went to George Bush. -

I am not a liberal. Look, maybe you do know something, but I stop listening when someone comes out and starts calling me ignorant. So I said all those things just to bug your ass. If I succeeded in pissing you and the other guy off for a little while, good. Suck it up. I'll hit you back where it hurts, and doubly unto. As a military man you should understand that. For the record I do have respect for the troops, I don't blame them for the Somalia incident, I know it was one incident involving a few guys. But that is all moot now, no reason to carry on about it between you and I. -

He drew first blood by insulting me, as so many of you do. If you do that, expect me to retaliate in my own way, not by insulting but making you real mad, because you deserve it. I see I was successful. Too bad for you I missed your flaming posts. Love you when you're mad baby... let me give you a kiss -

I did no such thing, just haven' had the time to explain it ad nauseum to others whose minds are already made up anyway. I also have a job and other things to do besides stay online all the time. Funny how you guys get so worked up over these debates, and how you constantly take the low road with the insults... love you when your mad baby -

Well then I'm sorry to hear that you and your colleagues wasted your time and achieved nothing, other than shaming the Canadian military with scandals of abuse and murder. Since the place is now kjust as bad, or worse than before you went, nothing positive wa accomplished. That will be the record of it in the annals of history. -

No, he is a post-neo fascist. You have a problem with it because you are conditioned to the word fascist as though it is something fearsome or despicable, like some people think about the "s" word (socialism). I do not think of fascists that way, they are not totally despicable. Some ideas are good and useful, some not good. But at least I know what it is. Who would invade us to save us, the "islamo-fascists"? -

I believe what I believe based on real world evidence, you make excuses for what you want to believe. Go to Somalia and see it then, if you think what we did had any lasting value. Ten years is nothing, what it amount to is an abject failure. -

If he came back to politics he'd do far better than anything trying out for liberal leadership right now. Many still love the little guy from Shawinigan. -

I do not need your link, nor your petty underhanded remarks... the news of what its like in Somalia today is evidence enough. The most violent region in the world. Besides your ass -

Sir Bandelot replied to Chuck U. Farlie's topic in Religion & Politics
I never think in absolutes. War can sometimes be the only option, just as when a bully confronts you, they will not be reasoned with, they only understand violence, so trying to negotiate is a waste. But I do not enjoy war or violence, since it always results in harm and war harms the people who are the least of these. So I believe if there is an option to resolve a problem without violence, that way should be followed. -

Yes, but what if allowing individual freedom begins to conflict with the conservative values of a society. By letting people have freedom of speech, some will abuse it, for example by expressing hate literature. Or by expressing liberal ideas that are seen to undermine the core values of a conservative society. I'm talking about a place like Iran, where, lets say they might look down on western materialism or hollywood style sexual media. In the United States people in the bible belt regions are appalled by the values of people living in California. When they reached a point that fundamental christian leaders were able to rally them together into a political movement, it was the backlash against liberalism. Some people purposely choose to restrict individual freedoms, on the basis of their moral values. Life is a struggle between these opposing views of life itself, where one leads to cultural decadence and the other leads to oppression, and it shall ever be thus. -
Obama, Harper, and Afghanistan
Sir Bandelot replied to Keepitsimple's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We are there for another 3 years, if US and others send more troops that would be enough time ot show some kind of progress. Even if we are asked to stay, our troops have done more than the fair share on this mission and someone else can take the lead. Ultimately this will only come to an end if the Afghani government and the Taliban reasch some form of agreement and reconciliation. Obama says he wants to go after al-Qaeda. -

If our troops are there to really bring some kind of law and order, we should be concerned about both countries. We did not accomplish much in Somalia. I don't think we will accomplish much in Afghanistan. -

It was also reported that gangs of white meanies were harrassing black voters at some of the voting stations. On Anderson Cooper 360, one of the long-time panelists (can't remember his name) reported this and said that at one black church up to 30 cars had their tires slashed by these thugs. This was on CNN, mind you. I did not hear about the Black Panthers anywhere. But today theres no mention of it, either way. -

John McCain is not religious. One of his challenges was to attract votes from the religous conservatives. Mainstream conservatives would have preferred John McCain to a more religious leader. I seriously doubt that many of the religious right switched to voting democrat.
