  1. Blocheads aren't any better though: Look at the propaganda they believe about the NDP.
  2. An Anglo-Quebecker with an English last name? Likely some form of Anglican Church of Canada.
  3. The BQ is not an ideology homogenous organisation. That may make things messy. I hope there comes a time when the Libs and BQ don't add to a majority. Electoral reform will never happen as long as the assclowns benefitting from the screwed up system remain in power. At least the Charestberals are doing something: They've been screwed out of power by unfair election results far too many times to not know how it feels.
  4. In all fairness, not even O'Lielly, InHannity, El Bushblow, or KKKoulter would be able to spin him out of that mess.
  5. Meh. Admitting they're screw ups didn't save the Union Nationale. Of course, only a buffoon would put any major Canadian politician in power today in the same league as Maurice Duplessis. (Well, maybe Larry Spencer. But the NDP is going to slaughter him. It's Regina, damn it!)
  6. The politically unastute vote in Ontario is almost universally Liberal. I wouldn't be surprised to see them swayed by the only name on the ballot they've heard of. (Broadbent)
  7. That would suck. China, USA, and Saudi Arabia all suck.
  8. 1. You have "69" in your name. 2. You come across as a less insane version of Adam Yoshida.
  9. People still think China is leftist?
  10. Duceppe with the Cons? Duceppe has been in communist parties for most of his life: He makes Jack Layton look like Stockwell Day.
  11. Actually, this sounds even more innane. I have other problems with Clinton, but they're from the left, not from the right.
  12. What Layton is doing is very smart: If the Liberals are stupid enough to go with the NDP as a coalition partner, PR will really screw the Liberals and (especially) the Bloc over, giving the NDP more power (and the CPC, which I believe irritates Layton less than the Liberals do) in the long-term. It's about goddamn time.
  13. The people there don't seem to pleased about it though. The right's gonna get slaughtered.
  14. "1968 - ETA carries out first planned killing: victim is Meliton Manzanas, police chief in Basque city San Sebastian. 1973 - Franco's Prime Minister Luis Carrero Blanco killed when car passes over explosives planted by ETA in Madrid." The discrete assassination of fascist officials is not tyrannical at all. I wish they would have stuck to that instead of the evil, as-bad-as Franco crap that they're doing now.
  15. Did they siphon a lot of Liberal votes, or was Charest enough to placate right-leaning Liberals? Or did they get more votes from separatists who disagree with the social democratic agenda of the PQ? Or yet still, did they encourage disenfranchised libertarians (the ADQ's platform seems to be more right-libtertarian than conservative) and conservatives who would otherwise have stayed home to vote? Even though I may not agree with them, they do need a voice in Quebec's national assembly to ensure that everyone's views have a chance to be represented.
  16. Landry's a wack-job to the point that I was longing for Bouchard, though I probably have more in common ideologically with Landry than I do with Bouchard. Bouchard didn't seem to go out of his to piss me and other non-sovereigntists off the way Landry and Parizeau did. I can't wait for Suzanne Tremblay to leave the Bloc and go provincial: It's easier for us all if all the sane separatists are in one party and all the wackos are in another.
  17. A massive fraud? A bigot? A decent guy in a long-term relationship who happens to be gay? I'd go with the 3rd, thank you very much.
  18. I really don't get how having a fascist (Duplessis cabinet minister) grandfather and Mu(sa)lroney cabinet minister father would work in Layton's favour, for younger and middle-aged Quebeckers hate Mulroney while their elders (and just about everyone not affiliated with the CPC, which looking at Free Dominion, has a lot of Duplessis apologist support in Quebec) probably still remember Le Grand Noirceur: Fortunately for Layton, he's been standing on his own 2 feet since he was barely a teen, working on campaigns for Lesage's Liberals (many of whom might as well have been New Democrats ideologically) and being a New Democat since 1970, having joined in protest of Trudeau's invocation of the War Measures Act. That WILL help him Quebec, while his family will just come back to haunt him.
  19. I despise both Bush and Chirac, so arguments like this amuse me.
  20. :-) So I half-lied...1980 occurred because Clark can't count and Bob Rae led a group of New Democrats against his budget.
  21. Personally, I'd like it at 14, but I'd like to see various "degrees" of statuatory rape for people under 17 that are based on age. a 16 and a 19-year-old getting it on would be fine, but a 30-year-old would be a problem, although I wouldn't want Kansas-style laws where the gender and number of participants is taken into account and where the prison terms can reach close to 20 years. That's really pushing.
  22. Cities the NDP will do well in: Vancouver Regina (duh) Winnipeg (duh...3 seats for them there is a bad showing...lol) Windsor (I think they broke the Liberal stronghold on this city federally...) Toronto (The NDP controls Toronto's municipal machine nowadays...) Ottawa (Broadbent will help in more than just Ottawa Centre) Halifax (The Winnipeg of the East) Even if the NDP doesn't win a seat in Quebec, I'm sure they'll win the village of Hudson by a lopsided margin..lol
