  1. Take a deep breath. And read the article below.... then count to 10 before replying. Anti-Americanism
  2. Have to admit Shakey you got a chuckle from me... BTW I think you need to add to your PT quote "Screw the West we'll take the rest"
  3. I assume you mean figuratively giving us the finger. I'm not sure how you can expect the US to do Canada any favours after 12 years of anti-Americanism from our leaders. Honestly why do you feel like Canada should get any special treatment? Fine jump up and down, pull out your hair and cry your head off. See where it gets you.
  4. It worked for Mulroney when trying to get a US audience for his concerns on acid rain. I think you are the one who is naive.
  5. Yes, you're right I should be more open minded to Eureka's brand of tolerance: Shame on you for supporting such prejudicial and intolerant comments.
  6. I would say it is more of a hypocrisy issue than a "he's not as bad as the other guy". How can the Liberals put down Harper's values when they have reneged on promises time and again and are proven to be corrupt. Correct. It is impossible to defend against negative accuasations about what someone is going to do in the future or about some secret agenda. However, in the case of the Liberals we have 12 years of history to use as an indication of what we can reasonably expect from them in the future.
  7. I don't remember the US "telling us to surrender or I'll invade". You lefties need to learn that treating people kindly and with respect, despite disagreeing with them, will often work wonders in getting what you want. Instead you have this attitude of entitlement and cry "no fair! no fair!" when things don't go your way.
  8. "Meanness and self interest"? Shouldn't you be referring to the Liberal Party of Canada? The difference between conservatives like me and liberals like you is we see someone with wealth and think "everyone ought to have that". While you think "no one should have that". BTW, have you found anyone to take you seriously around here yet Eureka?
  9. Well that's a very positive perspective. I am a new Canadian who appreciates that this country is a "Work in Progress" and is to be admired because. - Some of our institutions and ideas are still developing and are world models. - We don't have a history or aspirations of empire or world domination. - Our diplomatic reputation is that of moderation and collaboration. Well with that self-righteous attitude you'll fit in well here. Might I remind you that this little "work in progress" is thriving on the spoils of "American imperialism". Perhaps you should think of that next time you put on your Nikes or step onto the General Motors gas guzzling bus listening to your ipod. I have to laugh at you people who think we are sitting on top of this morally high island in the middle of the world, somehow independent of the benefits of the US economy. Don't forget the native people whose land you are now living on at the expense of their culture and hundreds of thousands of their lives. Or was that the fault of our mother imperial countries, France and Britain.
  10. I was watching a show from the US where they were argueing about the porous Mexican border and terrorists coming through. One of the guys made a great point in saying something to the effect of forget about Mexico, it's Canada we have to worry about because the terrorists are already there and have a large Muslim population to hide in. I think it's also important to mention Canada's increasingly adversarial role against the US in the way we are giving asylum to US citizens seeking to escape military commitments.
  11. What were Paul Martins coments with respect to the Khadrs? I remember it being something like "in this country you have the right to say and believe what you want". I know that it's kind of an inside policy of Immigration Canada to encourge immigration from areas known to harbour hatred towards Americans.
  12. Sadly, I believe you are right. He will most likely get in because of the colour of his sign, I expect the entire province to 'go blue'. C'est la vie. Ah, in this lousy system what difference does it make if it's Anders or a cocker spaniel. The only function Anders serves is to give the CBC some good sound bites to rail on the Cons for.
  13. I don't even know what they think about al-Qaida... Well the fact that the Khadr family is roming around free in Canada should tell you something. It's also largely ignored by the leftist media that Jean Chretien secured the release of Ahmed Khadr from Pakistan freeing him to continue his fight against "the great satan". I know. I think that liberals believe that our innate right to commit acts of terror is written into both the US and Canadians Constitution and the Canadian Bill of Rights just for good measure. Come on now, although terrorists are "not true followers of Islam" they have the right to practice their religion. Especially if it involves the propegating of Jewish and American hate...
  14. As much as I am not a fan of Anders, I will smile on monday night knowing that Rob Anders is the Honourable Member representing theloniusfleabag in Parliament once again.

  16. Exactly. Even Bush treats his political enemies with respect. Examples include the recent tour of the White House given to Robert Redford, one of the loonies who said he'd leave the US should Bush be elected, as well as the tributes given to Bill Clinton. Remember when they did the hanging of Clinton rendering? That speech was classy. As respectful as you'll ever hear one party be to the next. Right. Total class. After the scorched earth manner in which Clinton left the White House and all the bashing of Bush by Bill and Hilary, Bush offered complete praise of Clinton and continues to do so despite Clinton's relentless bashing of him.
  17. Exactly. Even Bush treats his political enemies with respect. Examples include the recent tour of the White House given to Robert Redford, one of the loonies who said he'd leave the US should Bush be elected, as well as the tributes given to Bill Clinton.
  18. Don't understand that logic. Our working relationship with the states seems a little onesided. What could Harper posibly do to resolve this without giving in on issues like missle defence, gay marriage, war on drugs or invading countries on false pretense for oil? Sure we can solve cattle and softwood, we just have to give up on having or own national identiy. So when this comes to pass and Im over "liberating" Iran or North Korea, I wont be hear to tell all you Harper supporters 'I told ya so', so... I told ya so. What planet are you living on? It has to do with diplomacy or simply manners. Harper won't bash the US in public to win some emotional points with insecure Candians. Conservative MP's won't fire off anti-Bush venom. Harper won't pull out of a deal with out first notifying the people he made the deal with. Harper won't use cheap-shot anti-American campaign ads to to maintain power. It's called statemanship, you libs ought to look into that and re-examine your definition of tolerance.
  19. I don't think the Liberals have any real ideas of their own. They tend to make promises based on other parties' ideas and then renege on them once they get power back. Their whole agenda is to maintain power to keep plush appointments and jobs for themselves and their buddies. It's basically an elected mafia.
  20. This kind of stuff happens all the time and the left always gets a pass. Finnally we have a more balanced media outlets like Fox that are focusing on these incidents. The druge report is pretty good at getting this stuff out. I remember not too far back when Hilary made racist comments about convenience store owners and a liberal talk show host who called Condi Rice "Aunt Jemima". Both were largely ignored. Can you imagine if Bush or Cheney made comments like that, they'd be savaged by the media.
  21. You Libs are really grasping for anything aren't you. I'm not sure how anyone could be worse than Paul Martin with respect to foreign relations. Not only has the guy burned our bridges with our largest trading partner but has also failed to keep promises on Kyoto and foreign aid. Not to mention the guy has no verbal skills and makes us look like fools any time he opens his mouth. I mean seriously we'd might as well have Porky Pig representing us.
  22. THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!
  23. The stupidity of people in this country never ceases to amaze me. How the Liberals can even be in the running is a sad commentary on Canadian intelligence. The gullability of Canadians is almost comical to watch as the media sways them from one side to the other. Little has changed between the Liberals and Cons. of this year and the Liberals and Cons. of last year yet for some reason the press has decided to push for the Conservatives this year and Canadians followed along. Not surprisingly the press is, at the last minute, now pumping up the whole fearmongering of "Harper is a scary guy" and it appears that the Canadian sheep are following along.
  24. Assuming Harper gets a minority, how is he going to handle confidence votes and a Liberal senate? Good question. How does that work with the senate?
  25. Assuming the media doesn't decide at the last minute again that they don't want Harper as PM, will he actually accomplish meaningful democratic reform? The senate, PMO, election dates etc. etc. or will he be seduced by the concentration of power in the PMO and be corrupted by the system like Mulroney? The system already seems to be encouraging him to promise quite a bit of spending. Any opinions thoughts?
