Why I'm voting Green Party October 10th
kengs333 replied to kengs333's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The only reason why we're not getting anywhere is because crass attitude and obnoxious taunts. Telling a history major that the "lack of knowledge of history" and then making up complete bs, is not only stupid but undermines your credibility. All you are doing with your rants is putting yourself in the league of the jennies and Posits on this forum. Posit has already, it would appear, had some time to reflect on his obnoxious conduct, and hopefully you have already received a warning. I really find it unfortunate the way that you choose to conduct yourself, and see clearly now why you were banned from other message forums. Some people never learn. I've been a long-term Green Party supporter, although in recent years I haven't been all that happy with things and would like a more conservative alternative. You, on the other hand, have only joined the party as a last resort it looks like, after the NDP got fed up with you obnoxious behaviour. There's a surprise. So what makes you think you can go around acting like some kind of great Green Party member is beyond me. And now you think you're somehow superior because you might run in an election? Give me a break. -
Yes, so long as Canada remains passive and compliant, this policy should continue. But let's face it, Canada is quite rich in natural resources and currently claims to have jurisdiction over much of the arctic. If ever Canada tried to assert itself, elected a government that was not willing to bend over whenever the US tells it to, then there would be a problem.

You don't honestly believe that there's any similarity between you and her! The law can not only be twisted to deny, but to to permit, as well. And that is what you are trying to do. Laws against drugs are created in an effort stop them from ruining society. People like you always point to the legality of alcohol and tobacco, but you always ignore the widespread problems that they cause. How many people die of cancer because of smoking, how many people are killed in alcohol related incidents? Too many. Now you want to add drugs into the mix. Usage is bad enough as it is, but once it becomes socially acceptable, then what? How many deaths will it cause? Too many more. Stupid people want stupid laws so they can legally do stupid things. You're not making much sense here. It seems to me that your only interest in the GP is to hijack it and change its agenda. I really doubt you can do so, the GP isn't exactly a fringe party anymore, and the leadership is sophisticated enough to recognize the problems that could result from certain kinds of people lurking in its membership. I'm hardly impressed, and you're not exactly bullying me. I've certainly dealt with people who were considerably more astute. All you are is an erratic hothead who doesn;t care if s/he makes a fool of him or herself. Not exactly something I lose any sleep over. I do wonder, however, just how long you will continue to grace us with you presence. My guess is not very long. -

You seem to be really obsessed with the concept of race, and from what I can gather you are more prone to judge people based solely on race than most of the rest of us. And who here, aside from perhaps Posit (who after his temporary absence is now keeping a low profile), always seems to be crying "racist"? -

I've read enough of your writing to know where you're coming from,,,,,, but let's be realistic here,,,,, you're style is a little annoying. And I'm not inclined to have much sympathy for people who try to make themselves out as victims when they face the consequences of justifiable laws. So I see no real point in wasting all that much time on this. Please don't run in the next election. The Green Party has a good platform and needs to be included in future governments; but the only way it can accomplish this is if it improves its credibility, not the reverse. -
The PC are going to lose bigtime. They thought that Tory would prove to be a great leader, but his campaigns has been nothing short of unimpressive. He just doesn't have what it takes.

Everything that I've read by the OP leads me to think that he would really find the Confederation of Regions Party his best alternative. Too bad for him the party only runs one candidate. -
And I'm sure in a PR system this would not be the case, so to all of you Tories out there who are going whine and complain about the Liberals over the next four years, keep in mind that it really shouldn't be this way. Have fun voting No to MMP.

Man kills himself over Council vote

I think the point of is to divert materials that are recyclable from ending up in the landfill. Most landfills have limited capacities, and there is always a huge problem when it comes to finding a new site. Nobody likes to have a stinking landfill within smelling distance of their valuable country home, right? If this constitutes "facist nazies [sic]" behaviour to you, then I'd suggest you have much growing up to do. -
Most farmers need somewhat more than 50-100 acres to get by. I don't think they "want their cake and they want to eat it to [sic]" rather they just want to be treated fairly, want to receive a reasonable return for the products they produce. But I can see that trying to discuss this with someone who would make a comment like "Go pump gas and rent or buy like everyone else!" is next to useless.

Honestly, I suggest you start being a little more careful in what you say. You should know by now that making these kinds of one line personal attacks won't keep you around for all that long on a moderated forum. You're conduct is shameful, and I wish you would stop associating with the Green Party and championing their cause on this message board. You are just providing those people who don't consider the Green Party a legitimate party fuel for their argument.

Sounds to me like you've picked up right where you left off at enmasse. If smoking weed is keeping you out of jail, then it seems to me that you have a serious personality disorder; what other conclusion can one draw when someone claims that drug use is the only thing keeping them from performing a homicide? Do you honestly believe that you're helping the Green Party with your ranting? And please don't try and pull that victimization bs on me; if you involve yourself in illegal behaviour and the law deals with you as they are supposed to, you only have yourself to blame for the problems you bring upon yourself and your family. -

I suppose this kind of nonsense is supposed to increase my respect for the like of the PC party? -
I think that if you'd ask a farmer, they tell you they wonder why people have so little sympathy for them. Many of these people struggle year after year, live on meagre incomes, and have to contend with unsympathetic banks and governments... yet they continue to farm. It should come as no surprise that when the chance presents itself, the farmer will sell his land to developers. We all have it good because the price of food is artificially low. In Ontario we're losing a lot of prime farmland, and this should not be happening.

I really didn't start this thread so that it could become a discussion on marijuana. Honestly, I don't think there could be a stupider issue. I don't mind it being used medicinally, but unlike most people who hold that view, I don't do so because I wish that it will lead to full legalization. Never smoked it, and always considered people who did losers and retards. The Green Party really doesn't need this issue dragging it down. The way you say "since I left there" makes it sound so voluntary... It was interesting reading the discussion surrounding your last post there. By the sounds of it, you really have a problem with anger management and making personal attacks... You don't think that the cannabis has something to do with this, do you? -

Elaborate on the "seemingly racist practices" bit. The medical profession seems to be very ethnically diverse. Just because someone studied medicine or was in the medical profession in their homeland, shouldn't mean that they should be slotted in into ours without question. I knew someone who was from China who was a "doctor" and trust me she was not suited for profession. Our system would not recognized her as qualified, and we should be thankful for that. -
Would this be permitted if it was from any other religious belief? Especially Christianity? I think if people want to make comments, it's one thing; but cutting and pasting things like this, and of this length is another.

I'm sure you're well aware of this, but I'll mention it anyway; Thanksgiving Day used to have considerably more significance because it marks the end of the growing season, and there was a time when most people lived in the country and were dependent upon agriculture. Celebrating the harvest, especially a good harvest, would have been of an importance most of us can no longer fully understand. It certainly is an indication of the way things have become when the original purpose of Thanksgiving Day has become irrelevant. We are all, however, still dependent upon agriculture, and there could very well be a time when this will really hit home.

Sorry, I don't know why you're using this analogy. Perhaps you can provide me with a few links to back this up. Or has jennie started to wear off on you, too? What happened in Germany in 1933 was a unique phenomena, and as much as people like to see similarities in what happens in modern politics in some countries with that of the rise of Nazi Germany, such comparisons have no merit. It is, of course, common in politics for party platforms to change with the rise of new leaders and party elites. Just look at the changes the federal CCF/NDP has gone through. What I'm suggesting is no different. In order for the Green Party to succeed it simply has to shed some of the dead weight from it's grassroots past. -

Mercer is a moron. Ever since he made that anti-monarchist rant, I just can't stand him. If he, or anybody else in Canada, is so keen on being more like the Americans, by all means MOVE THERE. -

Yet again, I ask how can one quantify the suffering of these children and prove that it was any worse than what other Canadian children went through at the time. Part of the purpose of the educational system is to get children to conform to a certain worldview. How is it that children who were forced to give up their German, Ukrainian, Japanese language are not accorded the same sympathy? This is outright nonsense. Children did not "simply disappear" because the "slipped up". What utter nonsense. As if the previous statement wasn't nonsensical enough, you have to suggest that sexual abuse was a deliberate tactic to force the children to "submit". Spoken like a true radical feminist. Anybody with a ration understanding of reality knows that sexual abuse is the exception to the norm, and that it stems from the individual's deviance. Sexual abuse/deviancy is a sin, is wrong, and should happen to noone under no circumstances. This is an outrageous distortion of the truth. Seventy percent? I highly doubt it. Show me evidence of one cemetery where these sorts of numbers can be substantiated. Where are the mass graves that would result from such death rates? The fact of the matter is that the children who died would have come down with diseases that non-Indian children did at the time. You can go through the obit section of any major newspaper from the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and you'll see a fair number for school age children--numbers that would be alarming nowadays. But medical technology wasn't as advanced as it is now. Let's keep in mind that the government went to great lengths to fly out ill children from isolated camps, settlements in the Canadian North to provide them with medical treatments which their traditional lifestyle could not afford them. And let's not forget that living in the bush was a precarious existence; subsisting on game does not exactly make for a decent lifestyle, and often meant starvation, an early death, living in unsanitary conditions. Women whe experienced complications in childbirth often died, infant mortality rates were quite high. No thanks, I'm quite certain it's just one-sided propaganda. -

Oh, please. These two countries are the examples that the fear-mongers always use as examples to support their views, but neither of these two countries have MMP.
