Because most those 'white nationalist' racists around these parts know each other. Have they left you out? -
The Six Nations and Crime in Ontario
jennie replied to kengs333's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Correction ... YOU are talking about Six Nations without posting a single bit of evidence to support your allegations of crime. Prove you have something to talk about before starting a thread based on your made up rumours. -
The government ignores them unless Canadians are screaming at their governments. The government has ignored Six Nations for over 200 years. It's our turn to feel the pain. They are sovereign. The payments are their money in trust with Canada, and Canada isn't even keeping up with the interest payments on what it owes them in leases, let alone paying for the settled land. Of course, the blockades, all of the local discomfort could have been avoided if the 150 OPP officers had not attacked 21 unarmed women, men youth and children in the middle of the night with excessive force. I believe it was the Mayor and the developers and the local Judge that brought that about, so I guess they reap what they sow.

Protest stops trucks to landfill near Caledonia

We'll bring the trash to your place. Where's that, now? Toronto? Oh well, then it's your trash anyway! -
Protest stops trucks to landfill near Caledonia
jennie replied to jennie's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Did you guys miss the point? Stopping the dump was initially a local residents' movement. It was them who approached the Confederacy for help. The Confederacy has the clout of course, because there was no consultation with them about the landfill expansion as there must be legally. However, I understand that the HALT group also has a legal angle because there is part of the contract that is not completed. I do have a question perhaps someone can answer. Is there a conservative discussion forum somewhere with intelligent people who know enough not to use racial slurs and stereotypes? Are all conservatives racist? Is this acceptable talk for conservative Canadians, or have i fallen upon the Canadian equivalent of Stormfront, the white nazi site? Are you kids for real? Do your leaders know how disgusting you talk on here? Do they know how unattractive you make conservatives look? Just some questions I have been pondering. Carry on as you like ... just wondering. -
It is my great pleasure to report that a team of protesters including Six Nations Confederacy people and residents of Haldimand County (HALT) have stopped trucks from delivering garbage to the recently expanded Edwards landfill. The landfill operators agree to halt work until next week, and to consult with the Six Nations Confederacy's development team. If work resumes without an agreement, there will be further protest action. This is land within the Six Nations claims area of the Haldimand Tract. The old landfill is known to be leaking toxins into the Grand River, as it is close to the river. Apparently there was an effort to remove some of the old toxic waste before the expansion, but the expansion is HUGE. A group called HALT has been opposing the expansion for years without success. Now teamed up with Six Nations, they continue to try to stop this environmental disaster in their county. Today they achieved a temporary success. More to come ... Oh and the OPP have not yet made a formal statement, but informally they are glad to see "the two communities working together". I don't believe the media caught this one. It started at 9 am and ended at 1 pm when the operators of the dump agreed to stop work until consultation with the Confederacy. Haldimand County residents (unsuccessful) against the landfill expansion initiated discussions with the Confederacy some time ago. I believe they waited until the old toxic waste was removed. The new stuff is supposed to go into a "liner" of unknown longevity. I think we should have to put our trash into above ground tanks, so we have to look at it, instead of sending it careening around the province on the highways to pollute someone else's backyard.

TASER- A SAFE FORM OF POLICE INTERVENTION?
jennie replied to Sam Steele's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Hi folks! I just heard on TV that there are researchers who have been trying to tell police that tasers can kill. They put a person's heart into irregular beating that can deteriorate into something fibrillation (fast heartbeat) causing death. One Six Nations youth was tasered 4 times by the OPP last April, as he tried to help his grandmother. He pulled out two taser points and threw them back at the cops. The third one took him to his knees and then they hit him with the fourth: 50,000 volts each, 200,000 volts. I think the cops are a little taser happy. I would like to see them lose their right to use them because they are abusing the privilege by using them when not needed, and by using them excessively. I think the airline has some responsibility for the incident with the Polish man, because they sent his mother home and did not help him find her at all. -
As far as they are concerned, Canada already declared war on them at 4:45 am April 20 2006 by invading their territory with 150 OPP who brutally attacked 20 unarmed men, women, elders and youth on Kanonhstaton (Gaw-no-staw-do). Later, with reinforcements from the entire Six Nations community, the women joined arms and walked the OPP off the land, where the OPP have respectfully remained ever since. Kanonhstaton is (formerly, now partially) undeveloped land on the outskirts of Caledonia. Caledonia is part of the land claim. However, they have no interest in turning people out of their homes. It is assumed that the government will substitute money or other land for settled areas, once all claims are resolved.

We pay while Indians live in luxury
jennie replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
That is not quite the same as intentionally making an incorrect reference to someone's cultural group or race, normally known as an 'ethnic slur'. I am not denying your right to say whatever you want so long as you are not promoting hatred or inciting a riot or any of those illegal things. I am just alerting you to the fact that your choice of terminology is pretty outdated for a young person like you, which suggests you are using it in a derogatory way since you know it isn't desirable. And you will find that some people (like me) will correct you, and others will just avoid you because of your uncouth behaviour, and that is your choice to make. In other words, yes you have the 'right' to pretend ignorance and disrespect Indigenous Peoples, and I have the right to tell you so: Because you have the right to say it does not mean that others have to accept it. You take the social consequences of talking like a dweeb. -
We pay while Indians live in luxury
jennie replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I think it is important for everyone to eventually become aware that it isn't appreciated. As with the 'n' word, if they choose to apply it to themselves, usually in fun, that's their choice. However, it isn't appropriate for others to use it to or about them. The correct term is Indigenous Peoples or people or person, etc. Many urban people call themselves Native so that seems acceptable still. However, there is always some aho around to screech "I have lived here all my life so I am NATIVE too!" It is just about respect. We are all entitled to be called what we prefer, as a matter of respect. Got it now, li'l jeffie Yank? jk -
We pay while Indians live in luxury
jennie replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
It is just the wrong name! And it was imposed on them by Canada. It would be like if I insisted on continually calling you a "Yankee" assuming you are Canadian. It is just dumb. They are not from India. -
Harper reloads with crime ultimatum
jennie replied to maldon_road's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Can anyone tell me whether the bill contains reference to providing funding for the additional people who will be incarcerated until they make bail, or incarcerated longer? ... or for rehab programs? How about crime prevention in the form of community action and activities? -
kengs, You have entirely made this up. It is a complete and utter fabrication. Have you not heard of Joseph Brant? Really kengs, are you a fiction writer?

We pay while Indians live in luxury
jennie replied to geoffrey's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Cripes are you still defending yourself about that? It is inappropriate because it was a dumb Euro mistake in the first place, and it is a label assigned by their oppressors. It is inappropriate because they say so. And because we have many citizens who truly are India-n Is this the first time you have been told that it is not appropriate? -
The Six Nations and Crime in Ontario

Methinks, kengs, that you'd better put your evidence out there. These are defamatory and inflammatory statements without any proof. 'Haven for criminals'? Show me. -
The Six Nations and Crime in Ontario
jennie replied to kengs333's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
All of those factors are there of course, but one needs to ask why: The answer, spoken quietly to trusted people, is Post Traumatic Stress and Intergenerational Trauma, arising primarily from residential school experiences, and the 'models of behaviour' they learned from there. -
Dion and his Palace Guard in trouble
jennie replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The party old guard were absolutely shocked when Dion won. There is absolutely no question that there are plots to unseat him. Dion is more academic, inclined to seek truth, than most two-faced lying politicians, and more friendly and open than conniving. No wonder he's getting hammered! Dion has the qualities many of us would like to see in government. Unfortunately, they are not qualities our politicians are accustomed to dealing with, other than to make mincemeat of, imo. Pity. I believe Dion will have to 'clean house' of the old guard before we will see his true value. -
what canada is not- a democracy
jennie replied to no queenslave's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nah ... It is a colonist's right to question the queen's value to us! I would be willing to give up the queen, but not the Governor General and her powers: She can remove and replace an ill-intentioned government. If Harper ever gets a majority, I have a feeling we may need that! -
No, it means it is the truth for me. That is what I would like to see ... more recognition that something ... a religion ... can be right for one person and not for others. I would like to see that respected. I would like to see religious views NOT pushed on other people who already have their own views. And I would like to see the religious "scammers" in jail.

Interesting that you mention that. Apparently according to our law now, whatever is attached to the land goes with the land.
